A group of 9 of us went for a Christmas meal. Our individual choices resulted with us trying all items on the menu (not vegetarian). All enjoyed every course, the food was well cooked and presented. Staff very friendly and there was no pressure to eat up and leave. After we finished the main course they asked if we wanted a15 minute break before the desert which we all happily agreed to. We plan to have another get together there in a few months.

Stayed here for two nights in late October, on a visit from London to see family, and had dinner once with a sizeable group. Our room was very nice, a bit more characterful than the usual corporate hotels, and the breakfast was lovely. Dinner fine too, although I guess they've cut out some of the fancier dishes due to the various problems facing the hospitality sector. All staff were very friendly and efficient. Recommended for anyone on a medium budget visiting the Bolton/Bury area.

Firstly the menu wasn't overwhelming and I'd have ordered pretty much everything on it. Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Food was quick to arrive, perfectly cooked and excellent quality. Portions were large and maybe too so in the case of the messy chips as a starter! We had the lamb shank and a cheese pie, both of which were fantastic as was the scallop starter. For a restaurant-pub it was good to see more than one cask ale on offer and both the JW Lees bitter and the MPA were both very well kept and tasty. Highly recommended.

Came w family yesterday. Not been here since the first time we came after Jane and Carl Owen left, and vowed never to return as it had gone v badly downhill. However was recommended by a friend about the Sunday roast, and decided to give it another go. It was amazing!!
Will definitely back, and try something else.,tho the Sunday roast is very obviously extremely popular w lots of beautiful meat and loads of fresh vegetables!! Very friendly place, and must be under new management.
We do still go to The Owens at Ramsbottom, but so glad the Red Lion is brilliant again.
Thank you ,we all have nothing
