Welcome to Newforge House, a historic family-run country house offering warm hospitality, luxurious rooms and delicious local seasonal food in tranquil surroundings. Set on the edge of the small village of Magheralin, Newforge is an oasis of calm and the perfect location for your romantic break or a special occasion with friends and family.
Our central location, only 30-minute drive from Belfast, makes Newforge an ideal base for touring Northern Ireland. We have a passion for local, seasonal food which John showcases in our daily dinner menu. Our orchard provides fruits for desserts, chutneys and preserves, and is home to our friendly chickens who lay wonderful eggs for breakfast.

Services
Swathed in relaxing shades of green, the spacious Spence Room on the second floor is one of our largest rooms. The bedroom has views over fields, whilst the rear facing bathroom looks out over the courtyard to our gardens. It has a large ensuite bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower. This Classic Double Room features a super-king size bed, which can be divided and made up as twin beds.
We always carefully consider guest safety and comfort, and for these reasons we are currently only taking up to 12 overnight guests and our dining room will remain closed to non-residents until further notice. We very much look forward to welcoming guests to enjoy delicious locally sourced food, luxurious accommodation, and tranquil surroundings at Newforge.
Lurgan Park is the second largest public park in Ireland, the biggest being Phoenix Park in Dublin. The beautifully landscaped parkland surrounds a 59-acre hand-dug lake with well-maintained paths which provide excellent walking and running ground. Brownlow House sits on the edge of the park and was built in the Elizabethan style in 1836 to the design by Scottish architect William Henry Playfair.
Lough Neagh is the largest freshwater lake in the British Isles at 18 miles long and 7 miles wide and the third biggest in Europe. It offers a host of watersports, fishing and birdwatching activities. The Oxford Island Discovery Centre enjoys stunning, panoramic views over the lough with four miles of footpaths along the shores and nature reserve.

My stay a Newforge House was the highlight of my month long trip across the UK. The food was absolutely amazing. Three days of gourmet meals, all vegetarian per my request, were the best ever. The other guests were lovely and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be back when I next visit the area.

A most beautiful house. From the website, & word - of - mouth accounts, I reckoned Newforge House would be very good. As we wended our way up the lovely driveway, I felt certain this would be the case. Indeed, the reality proved to be even better. From the warmth of the welcome, to the excellent teas & coffees served in the Drawing Room with homemade shortcake, we felt we had arrived somewhere special. Each of the six bedrooms is decorated differently, all utterly charming. Ours had a wonderful view through shuttered old windows of the surrounding grounds, bed sumptuous, room spacious & bathroom

Amazing experience. If you want to relax and eat excellent food this place is for you.
Starting with the house, a beautiful villa with a lovely garden, amazing rooms and shared areas with fire places. Rooms very big, very nicly furnished, perfectly clean. Huge bathroom.
If you go there you must try the dinner! You will find local ingredients with an excellent quality, combined in an amazing way by John, the owner. Also the breakfast is superb!
All the staff has always been very kind and with a keen eye to the details.

Newforge House is proper old school luxury. You will be warmly welcomed and shown the genuine hospitality befitting this beautiful country house. The grounds are peaceful and perfect for a stroll before dinner. The rooms are lovely and so quiet that you're guaranteed a sound night's sleep.
Above all this, though, is dinner. Classic fine dining, every aspect prepared fresh using produce locally sourced if not grown in the house's garden.
I really can't recommend Newforge House enough.
