Within just a short distance are, 2 parks, a multitude of shops, a post office within one of the local shops, a pharmacy and two churches (one of which is Episcopalian and the other Church of Scotland). Nearby is the historic River Tweed from where there are lovely views of the Cheviot Hills. Victoria Lodge was constructed in the mid 19th century as a family home.

However it has variously served as a local bank, a family run hotel and for its last manifestation over the past 20 years, as a retirement home. Its style is of its period and it displays a few architectural flourishes that add to its character and charm. Victoria Lodge boasts 14 well appointed and comfortable single bedrooms, many en-suite with a bath or shower.
Services
The facilities at Victoria Lodge have been designed around the needs and requirements of our residents. We have an open patio at the front of the building where residents can sit at ease and enjoy the sunshine as well as the bustle of the High Street in a safe environment. During our local 'Civic Week' the town comes alive with events scheduled for all ages.
Entertainment is provided mostly through a voluntary group of performers named 'Harmony'. They produce various musical acts and visit every 2-3 months. There is also an organisation named 'The Friends of Victoria Lodge' whose members come to visit residents and assist with a programme of various in-house activities.
Victoria Lodge Retirement Home is situated in a prominent position overlooking the High Street in the Border town of Coldstream and close to the River Tweed. Coldstream's most notable claim to fame came in late 1659, when General Monck who had been Cromwell's military governor of Scotland, used Coldstream as the Headquarters of troops including Monck's Regiment of Foot.
