Services
McGregor MOT Centre is a well established, family run business and has been since it began trading in 1982. With a well-equipped, modern workshop fitted out with the best of equipment and tools, as well as heavy investment in state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment we are confident we can find and rectify almost any problem or fault with your car.
The MOT tests some important items on your vehicle to check that they meet the legal standards. It isn't the same as having your vehicle serviced and doesn't check its general mechanical condition. The vehicle will be inspected, depending on the age and fuel type of the vehicle, to check that it meets the rules for exhaust emissions.
How often should you service your car? As a general rule of thumb it is recommended that your car receives a full service every 12,000 miles or every 12 months - whichever comes sooner. More general check ups, such as our Essential Car Care offer and Interim Servicing option, are also available to ensure your vehicle is kept in the best possible condition.
Annual checkups from your physician keep you in good health, right? Well, the same goes for your car-regular diagnostic tests can detect problems with your vehicle before they require expensive repairs, or worse, leave you stranded on the side of the road after a breakdown.
And while many people think diagnostic tests are only necessary when the check engine light comes on, there are many benefits to taking a proactive approach to car maintenance. What is a car diagnostic test? Of all the technological advances in the automotive sector over the decades, one of the most beneficial to consumers and auto technicians alike has been the computerization of the car's components.

UK law requires that your vehicle is fitted with the correct type and size of tyre for the vehicle type you are driving and for the purpose it is being used. This means fitting the right tyres and for safety ensuring that they are inflated to the manufacturer's recommended pressure. The legal limit for minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres, across the central 3/4 of the tread around the complete circumference of the tyre.

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Value
I went to McGregor to change my brake pads and headlamps. They were recommended to me by a friend and I am so happy he did so. I have finally found a garage I can trust; the guys are honest, professional and friendly. Their prices are competitive and quality of work top notch! Really recommend them...

Very picky for older cars. If you have one go somewhere else. One of the advisories was that he could not fully check seat belt at the rear seat couse of the child seat ( my nearly 7 ear old don't have any problems with that but whatever) previous years slightly corroded brake lines was pointed on MOT as advisories . When I was servicing my car I asked other mechanic what he thinks? (mechanic with over 30years experience) he said its typical for Toyota as still brake lines are in rubber sleeves but ends prone to rust. So he looked at them said they are not bad only surface rust he brush them with

Requiring an MOT whilst 400 miles from home, I phoned McGregor MOT centre and gave the details of my vehicle - make/model/engine/wheelbase/asked about height for access etc: and was told it could be done.
I then travelled from Fife to Edinburgh to give them the business. But on arrival I was told that they could not do my class of vehicle (class 7). I had no apology and was told it was my fault... I quote "how do I know what you have?" Probably because I gave you the details on the phone yesterday... when you agreed that you could do it!
I writing this review, as their attitude was accusatory
