The client had been operating for many years with the same accountant - a well known and much larger firm that NGM. The appointment of a new Financial Director and a pressing need for a more goals driven approach prompted a change. The client's only experience of financial reports was that they were delivered 6 weeks after the quarter end.
Our client had been in business for just over 3 years when we were appointed as their accountants and tax advisers. In that time they had worked with two other firms and didn't feel they had the support or service they needed as a growing business. The primary challenge was to help the client understand the numbers being produced by their online system and how to use them to create a tax plan for the year ahead.
The individual was referred to me because HMRC were pursuing him for a significant amount of tax debt from previous years (over 9000 and interest continued to be added daily). The client had parted company with his original accountant some years before, hadn't submitted any tax returns for some time and wanted to mitigate against a large accountant's invoice.
