Services
Sibbons (Alresford) Ltd was established in 1963 by founder Norman Sibbons who after a few successful years expanded his property development company into plant and tool hire. Originally trading from St. Johns Workshop in Bromley Road, Elmstead Market, the company then expanded to larger premises around the corner at Bottles Hall in Clacton Road.
We have a dedicated, purpose built workshop on site along with well trained, experienced personnel to allow us to maintain, repair and service your machinery. Our large yard and fleet of Lorries means we are able to handle a vast range of machinery, from slab cutters to 18m forklifts. This versatility, along with over 50 years of trading, means we have the contacts in place to ensure that we can handle almost anything.
We offer an in-house sharpening service for chainsaw chains both on and off machine, with our equipment designed to give the best possible finish to your chain. If your chain is beyond repair, we are also able to match and make up a new chain for you. We are also able to make up and fit new chains for your machine.
Keeping up to date with the calibration of your survey equipment is essential, with this in mind we are able to get your laser levels and CAT scanners both repaired and calibrated to ensure your equipment is working as it should be. We also do our best to keep track of our customers' calibration needs and keep you updated every 12 months to help you keep up to date.
We have a large fleet of crane and flatbed lorries to help facilitate your container, plant and other site moves. Our highly trained drivers are incredibly flexible and able to move a vast range of material and equipment, taking the hassle out of getting where you need to be. All of our lorries are fitted with powerful winches, with a number also equipped with high capacity cranes, so there is not much we can't move for you.

Terrible customer service. The website is poor. There is a rather loud young gentleman sort blonde hair who seems to think it’s alright to stare at you while shopping. Also there was a rather old lady following me around most of the time as I was browsing.
There’s an alright range of products however customer service needs bolstering.

Terrible customer service. Wanted to hire a scissor lift for the weekend so telephoned Monday morning & told they would get back to me with availability. I heard nothing therefore rang back in the afternoon and told someone would get back to me. It's now Wednesday afternoon & I still haven't heard anything so I've gone to Nationwide Platforms via Jewson Hire instead who have given me great service. Rated one star only because I couldn't give no stars.

We used sibbons to hire a cherry picker at short notice, couldn't fault them, very friendly staff, good professional kit, hassle free. We used to use another local tool hire place (I won't name) but found they were increasingly frustrating to hire from. We phoned sibbons and got good info and a great price. We'll make this our new place to hire from! Defiantly worth a look if you need plant hire/tools.
