We are still asking for masks to be worn at all of our sites, on funerals and when in our vehicles. Sherlock Funeral Service was established in Dorking in 1888, and is now a sixth generation family run business. We offer a first class, comprehensive funeral and memorial service, for both burial or cremation, including the use of our interdenominational service chapel.

We can assist and advise you with all aspects regarding funeral arrangements and the associated procedures. A 24-hour telephone service for emergencies is maintained. Our services to you start from the initial contact we have with you, either by telephone or by calling in personally.
Services
Sherlock Funeral Service was established in Dorking in 1888, and is now a fifth generation family run business. The business of Sherlock & Sons originated from premises in West Street, Dorking where Thomas Henry Sherlock traded as a wheelwright and coach-builder before adding a funeral service in 1888.
We are well aware of the concern many people have, either in respect of funeral arrangements for themselves, or for a relative or friend for whom they are responsible. This is not just concern for the practical implications but also for the costs involved. As part of our service, we are able to assist and advise on all aspects of prepaid, prearranged funerals or any other matters which may be of concern.
When the deceased has left a will this needs to be proved at the Probate Registry. Once Probate has been granted, the executors named in the will are then able to administer the estate. If the deceased has not left a will they are said to have died intestate. It is then necessary to apply to the Probate Registry for Letters of Administration for permission to administer the estate.
He/she may write out a Medical Certificate of Death when visiting the house or may request you to collect from the surgery. If cremation is to take place, the doctor should be informed as they may wish to arrange for an independent doctor to visit the house before the deceased is removed. The Medical Certificate of Death will be made available to you by the hospital.
There are occasions when it is necessary for H.M. Coroner to act or investigate any sudden or unexplained death. The Coroner and his officers are working in your interest and will keep you informed of their progress. There is no need to wait for certificates to be issued before making preliminary arrangements with us.

Thoroughly recommend Sherlocks. Proactive, professional and caring service from the whole team, but especially Clive, at a very difficult time.

From our first contact with Sherlocks they were incredibly kind, sensitive and helpful. This continued throughout the planning, especially Maria, and then the funeral itself. Clive was very kind on the day. Highly recommend.
