Laightown Kennels & Cattery
The kennels, which are set in the beautiful Dumfries & Galloway countryside, are run by caring and experienced owners. We understand how important your pets are to you and we take our responsibility very seriously.

If we have any concerns about their health, we will contact your vet immediately for their advice, and if necessary will take your pet for treatment, the cost of which may be covered by our insurance unless it is a pre-existing condition. We always ask for a contact number when pets are boarded, and will ring either you or your contact if there is any cause for concern.
Services
We have 22 kennels in total, all with individual, covered outside runs. Your dog will have access to the outside run from 7.30am to 9.30pm. The kennels range in size from single to large family size for three or more dogs. All dogs are walked individually, unless from the same family, twice daily (morning and afternoon) along the quiet lane next to our kennels.
We have eight cat rooms, all having invidual, covered runs. The sleeping quarters all have heaters which are used whenever the weather is cold, and for elderly cats, or during really cold spells the heaters are kept on 24 hours a day. We supply beds and cosy veterinary bedding for your cats comfort, but you are welcome to bring anything that you feel your cat would be happier with.
We are able to offer day care facilities for dogs. Your pet will have his/her own kennel with covered outside run and additionally will be walked twice during the course of the day. We can also provide meals if required.

If you are on holiday in the area, and are unable to leave your dog in your accommodation whilst you are out, we are more than happy to take your dog on a day basis, where you leave him/her in the morning and then collect in the evening. If you are having problems leaving your dog at home while you are out at work, have you thought about day care?
This is Lulu - a Special Needs VIP whose owners recently put a huge amount of trust in us and left her with us to look after. Lulu is a small dog with a HUGE personality, she suffers from a condition called megaesophagus, which means that she is unable to swallow food - all her meals need to be liquidised, and fed to her from an elevated position.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

I wasn't directly in touch with Val, but we emailed for the organization for the kennel stay for our rescue dogs. She was involved, thorough, organized and took amazing care for our rescues! I would definitely say she's one of the best people out there and does extraordinary work. Thank you Val!☺️
