Hypnosis is an everyday, natural occurrence. It is enabled when you are very relaxed and have focussed concentration. While you are like this, your mind and body is very open and responsive to suggestions. For example if you find yourself very relaxed driving along a familiar route, you'll probably be in some stage of hypnosis, therefore your internal dialogue can have a big impact because while in hypnosis you are so responsive to suggestion.
Many people have an expectation that being hypnotised will be an out of body experience and they'll not be aware of what has happened afterwards. This is not the case, being hypnotised feels surprisingly normal. You'll be consciously aware of and involved with everything I say, afterwards you'll normally remember everything.
