It is with the heaviest of hearts that we must inform you of the passing of our Co-Founder Nick Matthews.
Nick had only retired 12 months ago, and leaves behind his wife Tracey, 3 children and 3 grandchildren. As the whole Matthews Haulage team mourn the loss of Nick, our thoughts and prayers. Matthews Haulage are very proud of our 'Soldier Boy'. Our PallEx C&D Driver, David Fitzgerald (aka Soldier Boy), spent 13 years in the Army with the Bomb Disposal unit, before joining the Matthews Haulage family.

Matthews Haulage Ltd was established in 1975 and based in Hertford since 1977. We have been in our own premises since 1984 which we have expanded twice since to flourish into the 1.2 acre site we now enjoy. Set up by Trevor and Nick Matthews who both drove 35cwt Bedford vans to start with, Matthews Haulage Ltd has meticulously grown into the 'Rolls Royce' company it is today.
We specialise in deliveries from 1 pallet to full loads nationwide on a next day* or economy basis. We also cover the Republic of Ireland. Unpalletised consignments are also catered for. Next day is what it says on the tin but we can add timed, AM and PM services to this with a small surcharge.
If your consignment is price sensitive why not send it economy and it will be delivered within 3 working days or on a specific day in the future (timed, AM and PM services also available).You can also specify a tail lift delivery (or collection) for any service at no extra cost. We have the ability to collect goods from anywhere in the country to go anywhere in the country.

We employ both LGV1 and LGV2 drivers. All LGV1 jobs involve early starts and nights away from home, LGV2 jobs are split into 2 categories one being 'general haulage' which involves early starts and nights away the other being the pallet network delivery vehicles which does not involve nights away. All night away vehicles have sleeper cabs with night heaters.
All customers are given the opportunity to use our online booking system. This is provided by our traffic software providers Stirling Solutions Ltd. It's quick and easy! You can view the progress of jobs and when they are completed you will be able to view, print or email your proof of delivery. You can also print labels for your pallets and a delivery note for each consignment.
