Kirsten Sturman Acupuncture & Complementary Therapies
Following recommendations from the Scottish Government and British Acupuncture Council I am open and available for all treatments. PPE will be in place & treatment rooms will be cleaned & ventilated between appointments. This action has been taken for the health and well-being of clients and to prevent the spread of this pandemic.

I am a graduate from the University of Salford where I completed a 3 year honours degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) and gained membership to the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) in 2003. I have completed postgraduate training with the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China and a diploma in Fertility Acupuncture with The Fertility Support Company.

My interest in complementary therapies grew from my teens, it seemed logical that the mind, body & spirit should be treated holistically. After my 3 year BSc (Hons) Traditional Chinese Medicine training at the University of Salford, I worked as a locum in Sheffield for 3 months returning to Falkirk in 2004.
I honestly think I couldn't have done my IVF journey without you. I was so stressed when I first saw you, your reflexology treatments calmed me right down and helped me sleep when insomnia was making my life so difficult. After a failed IVF cycle, I researched acupuncture and of course you were the only person I thought of.
Acupuncture works to help maintain your body's equilibrium. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of 'qi', your body's vital energy. For a number of lifestyle and environmental reasons, qi can become disturbed, depleted or blocked, which can result in some symptoms of pain and illness.
In 2018 Kirsten completed training with The Fertility Support Company to gain an Advanced Level Diploma in Fertility Support Acupuncture. The Fertility Support Company provides healthcare and support to men and women wishing to become parents. The primary method of care is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine's use of acupuncture, supported by Western medical diagnostic techniques.
Modern life can make it easy to eat and drink more than we realise and do little physical activity. The result is often weight gain. To lose weight, we need to change our current habits. This means eating less - even when eating a healthy, balanced diet - and getting more active. Drastic fad diets and exercise regimes that result in rapid weight loss are unlikely to work for long, because these kinds of lifestyle changes can't be maintained.
