Leo's Fish Bar
An average serving of chips contains more than double the amount of fibre found in an average serving of brown rice or bowl of porridge. An average portion of battered cod & chips has fewer calories, at least half the saturated fat and just a tenth of the salt of a cheese and tomato pizza. Fish and chips are a valuable source of protein, fibre, iron and vitamins, providing a third of the recommended daily allowance of vitamins for men and nearly half for women.
Services
Alan and Joanne worked in the Middle East for many years. Coming back home during holidays was always something they looked forward to, especially good old traditional Fish and Chips and a Full English Breakfast. But often, wherever they ate, there always seemed to be something missing. On returning to the UK permanently, Alan and Joanne s passion for traditional food lead them to think further.
Pauline, Joan & Sheila, the three sisters. The service is good and the staff is pleasant, food is good, the Manager is sociable and nice. Your food is very tasty. I am really pleased to choose your shop, and also I will always be your regular and loyal customer. Me and my friend both enjoy the food you serve, the staff are very helpful and nice (that is not the norm any more), we come in at least once a month and will continue coming.
We are passionate about our people; we operate within a warm friendly atmosphere. We take great care in developing our people and offer excellent terms and employment conditions, including pay and benefits whilst maintaining a high level of enthusiasm and morale amongst our passionate and dedicated employees.

Just had Fish, Chips & Curry from here. I asked for his best fish he looked at me like I was crazy and told me “this is my job you know!”
The Fish was fine ✅ The Chips were hard and inedible and had to throw… them away ❌ The Curry for some reason was greasy ❌
Oh well last visit here. I suppose you should do your job better as this is what you claim isn’t it......
Very poor customer service.

Better and less expensive than most places around the city center. A good meal for two is around ~15 pounds.

I had an English breakfast and a shawarma so far, both were great value and delicious. The atmosphere is way better than in the usual fast food places. This place is a restaurantish fast food place where you can sit in or buy food for takeaway, or you can order it through deliveroo or ubereats.

There was a lot of battering over the fish and you can't feel the actual taste of it.
Moreover the cheese over the fries was not melted and they just sprinkled over it.
Very much Disappointed

What a very good meal.i saw previous recommendations and finally tried the place.the meat and potato pie, chips and mushy peas were spot on and reasonably priced for the city centre.the place is clean and the staff are friendly with a fast service.located just off Piccadilly gardens so within walking distance of the shops and public transport.i plan to go back again.

Was in at 11.15am. The waitress asked the cook where is my food as she can see I waited for a while.
Waited til 11.45am when I had to go & got told the food is just ready. The toast was not even put into the toaster but I didn't have time left to wait for it.
Someone I assumed is the boss was apologising for the wait because her staff members thought the delivery was more important than sorting the waiting customer's order.
Leo's used to be good for their fish & chips but even that went fown the drain. Not going to waste my time or money there ever again.

What a treat this was at Leo’s fish bar! We had no expectations and with a statement on a sign outside, prommising The best Fish ‘n chips in Manchester, we were slightly skeptical. But ohh boy, it was all they… promised. This is by far the best fish and chips we have ever had. The chips were made from fresh potatoes, that were chopped when they were to be used. The fish was tasty and juicy and the batter was crisp and delicious. We could even choose between 3 kinds of fish. The service was really nice and the food was served at the table. The portions were plenty in size and

Had fish&chips, because it says it's the best one in Manchester. I sincerely hope, for Manchester's sake, that it isn't. It's not bad, but it's not great either. My fish had a bit of a flat taste, and the fries were a bit too greasy. It was just alright. Was missing some tartar sauce though. Having said that, I have to say that the people are nice, so that makes up for a lot!

Recommend the double chicken burger with cheese if your feeling hungry, that bad boy could keep you going on a desert island for a week! Curry sauce on the chips was spot on. Worth a punt if your looking for a feast

So the highly ranked leos fish and chips bar where to begin! food ordered: haddock chips curry and tartar sauce on the whole the chips were superb however the same cannot be said about the fish on first tastes it tasted alot more like chicken than fish texturewise it was very chewy curry sauce was nothing special really and tartar sauce failed to live up to expectations. interior was splendidly worked and a friendly atmosphere allthough im guessing it can get crowded now comes the negatives upon ordering the meal i had to ask multiple times for both of the sauces which is a nuisance as i had to

Being a visitor to England, I had to try fish and chips to see what it's all about and to see if it compares to what we have in the USA.Ordered a portion with mushy peas. Completely underseasoned. I had to dump a ton of salt on my food to get it to taste ok. Sorry Brits, I've had better fish and chips in the states. Hell, I could probably make better

Best fish and chips I have been to so far to be honest. the fish was the best part, the batter was lovely crisp and thin, the pie on the other hand was just simple and dry. Chips had a layer of cheese (not melted) on top. I would of preferred a nicer cheese rather than the cheap baking flower style cheese. The hot wings were sold out so we took The king prawns which were delicious but only 3 out of 4 was served since none were left! Would of been nice to know before hand and we would chosen a different dish.

We headed to Leo's Fish Bar as I was craving for chippy. Couldn't decide what fish to have so I ordered the Captain' Meal (Cod, Haddock and Hake) with chips (£6.60) and mushy peas (80p). Disappointed with the peas as it was very bland and even with salt added it looked very sorry for itself. However the main star Captain's meal was brilliant! The batter was very light and cooked perfectly goldenly crispy whilst the fish was still moist inside. Definitely satisfied my craving.

Good atmosphere however service was not great as their profeciency level of english was below average. The batter on the fish was not very well done and the fish lacked parts that were actually battered. The chips were not very crispy. The overall taste was decent and it was definitely eat-able.

Leo's Fish Bar don't seem to know what they are doing at all. Their name states it is a Fish bar but they also sell chicken, they do takeaway with Just Eat, they sell donner beat, and even do eat in food.

I don't like this approach as it makes it feel messy, and not a great place to eat in, and it makes me feel they are sacrificing quality and the nature of it being a fish and chip shop, by selling lots of other different things, making it more of a takeaway where you can sit and eat.

The fish seems to be done fresh to order, as they don't do gluten free, I just came in with

Leo's Fish bar is on Oldham Street in Manchester City Centre. They do a lot of different fast foods and you can sit down and eat your meal inside, or you can take away. Staff are very friendly and the food was cooked fresh. It is reasonably priced for what you get.

Got delivery... £15 for 2 portions of cod chips and mushy peas...

The only good points are for delivery being prompt and food being hot alone... Without those it would be 1 star.

The food looks appetising enough but was just UBER greasy and had virtually no flavour. Aside from grease, the fish was dry and over cooked, the chips where mostly stale and again very greasy and the peas tasted like lumpy water (without flavour).

Very let down and also the sheer volume of grease on the fish (I know I've said it a lot but I just want to hammer it home how bad it was) made me feel pretty damn

Hadn't eaten there in years but went back for the first time at the weekend. It was lovely! I had friends visiting from Germany who wanted a proper, greasy fish and chips so we decided to give Leo's another try. It was definitely worth it! The restaurant area is quite nice, and the food, without being mind blowing, is excellent value and there will be something for anyone: all day breakfast, burgers, fish and chips etc. One slight disappointment was the tartare sauce: it came in single industrial pre packed portions which was a shame.

Not eaten in here for years but it's since had a refurb and now resembles more of a fancy cafe than a takeaway, with lots of seating and nice clean tables and cutlery. Normally, I would only head to a takeaway on Oldham street if I was blind drunk, but seeing as there's a distinct lack of good fish and chip shops in the city centre - and being drawn in by the (fairly) new branding and snazzy-looking Christmas tree - I decided to give this place another go.

Soooo glad I did! Lovely chap serving the food. Great first impressions. I ordered a chip barm (I'm a proper northern lass

This former favourite of mine deserves one star due to the appalling treatment i received a few months ago. having enjoyed its wholesome fare for the past two years, i had the unfortunate experience of waiting ages a few months ago. not only tht and i understand it was a busy day, but i loathe aggressive service and being tactlessly bawled at over a mix up over a side or whatever. i will simply avoid in future and take my custom elsewhere.

It was getting late and we were getting hungry. I got off the main road just to peek up this street to see if there were any places to eat and I spotted Leo's. I hadn't had fish and chips yet and since I was in England, I HAD to have fish and chips.

Leo's was OK. The two of us had cod and chips, which cost 4.10, which I think is a reasonable price. Could have done with a few more chips though.

I think the place may be Turkish owned/run because there were several Turkish dishes on the menu, so you're not really restricted to traditional English fare.

I have eaten the fish and chips and full breakfast here many times. I also have coffes here too. For the money its great and I always feel satisfied afterwards. The staff are nice too. Shame about the hideous blue chairs nailed to the ground that make dining uncomfortable!

This place gives an impression that everyone in the kitchen has practically done a course in the traditional fish and chips subject! They're particular about what you want, where you'll sit and what you'll do. Yes, I was met with a rather very intruding staff here.

Nonetheless I was still happily awaiting my fishy delight. Once it had arrived, I felt it would have been 10 times better had I been a little drunk! The food was the same chippy food which you relish after a night out- Oily, greasy and well, the normal body does not quite vouch for it. So I was disappointed and what disappointed

If you're out in town past midnight and fancy (or need) something greasy head to Leo's Fish Bar. Serving everything from battered cod to a full english, Leo's will be able to satisfy most late night wants and needs at a reasonable price, just don't expect more than you pay for.

I've had the cod and chips here a few times and it was fine, I don't really expect much from fish when I'm away from the coast and Leo's ticked all of the boxes: crispy batter, lightly steamed fish, chunky chips and plenty of vinegar. I would avoid the pizzas as they look a little

I've been in here once, and don't intend to return anytime soon. Leo's fish bar is the kind of place you end up when you've had a long afternoon or evening drinking and you and your stomach haven't got the patience to look any further.

Offering fish (funnily enough) chips, burgers, pies and anything else you'd expect to find in a greasy fish and chip shop, it fills the hole but doesn't necessarily satiate the soul.
