In 2018, having completed my training and qualified as an ADI, I retired from being a Project Manager in IT and took up driving instructing as a part-time career whilst being semi-retired. Driving Instructing is not my main source of income. I do it because I enjoy it, not to make money out of you.

If you have never driven before, the chances are, you will be a bit nervous. Don't worry. I will drive you to a quiet training area close to where you live. Then we will talk a bit about the car controls and how to move off and stop. I will keep the talking to a minimum so that you can get as much practice in as possible.
The scheme has been designed by the Driving Standards Agency, now part of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), and with the help of the motor insurance and driving instruction industries, to develop your skills and knowledge in areas where you may have limited experience. Pass Plus consists of a minimum of six hours' training and the emphasis is on developing your practical driving skills.
Maybe you passed your driving test then went straight off to university and didn't need to drive. Now you have come back home without having driven for three or four years since passing your test. Whatever, the reason, I can put together a lesson or two to boost your confidence and get you back on the road.
Before you can book your Practical Driving Test, you need to have passed your Theory Test. The Hazard Perception Test comprises 14 video clips of about a minute each. 13 of the clips contain one hazard each. One of the clips contains two hazards. Therefore the maximum you can score is 75. The pass mark is 44.
Once you have passed your Theory Test and gained sufficient experience driving, then you will be ready to take your Practical Driving Test. A 20-minute independent drive, where you will follow either a sat-nav or road signs. The independent drive will comprise a mixture of main roads, country roads and town roads.

Mike is a very friendly and knowledgeable driving instructor who will ensure you know everything you need to know for your driving test. I would highly recommend him as your instructor as he will go out of his way to ensure you are the best driver possible and ensure you are safe out on the roads. After a 6 year break from driving Mike helped me regain my confidence behind the wheel, as well as teaching me a few new things along the way. Cant recommend Mike enough, his calm and collected teaching style helps put you ease and would be great for a beginner or someone just looking for a refresher like me.

I had a refresher course with Mike, which was excellent. He took me through the basics very quickly and then onto more advanced driving in different traffic and road conditions. His instructions were concise and clear and his patience was boundless. I am now happily driving again after a break of over 30 years.
