Gardens Direct was formed by Alexander C Brothers to offer a creative, competitive and high quality garden design and landscaping service operating throughout Hertfordshire, Essex and the North London area. Alexander is well rooted in the gardening industry considering he grew up at his parent's garden center "Roots & Shoots", in Upminster, Essex.
He spent his teenage years helping his father in the purchase and retailing of the garden center's huge range of plants. It was then that he developed his diverse knowledge of latin plant names along with their garden suitability. He also managed the water garden department, selling ornamental pond fish and related products.

We needed shed demolition, a new sandstone patio, new fencing and demolition/ re-sizing of our raised beds. Alex was very clear in his quotes and the work this represented, leaving no ambiguity about the work that was going to be done. We are really pleased with the standard of his finish and the materials used - a lot of care has been taken to ensure the patio is beautifully flat! His design approach was fluid and quite happily responded to last minute design changes, he also was clear if this was not on the original pricing before going ahead, so no surprises in the final bill. Our garden has been completely transformed by Alex at GardensDirect. Our lawn was wrecked due to the wet winter/spring we suffered so after consulting Alex we decided on something maintenance free. We discussed various options and decided to have artificial grass. Alex supplied samples and went to a great deal of effort. As we already have a decking area it seemed a good idea to extend this theme. Alex levelled off our lawn, laid sunken sleepers, put deck planks on the top of the sleepers and laid the artificial grass inside. It now looks like an extension of our decking, it's fabulous! This was the simplest and uncomplicated operation to get my garden transformed. All it took me to do was to phone Alex at Gardensdirect then leave it all to him and Andrew to complete the work as per his incredibly cheap quote. I had been expecting a bigger quote for what I had wanted.
Alex provided the expert knowledge and advice during the initial planning stage. He detailed all work to be carried out, including a breakdown of all materials and plants supplied.

We had a large area in which we wanted to build a patio and after consulting several companies we decided to put our faith in Alex and Gardens Direct, and it was certainly not misplaced! The whole operation from start to finish was painless and we are so happy with the end result – it looks great and Alex was diligent in providing us with a great looking product that was still within our budget!
