Sheesh Mahal has a reputation throughout Yorkshire for it's respect to every customer. The restaurant has become so popular, and the food so good, that customers have been willing to wait at busy times for a table to become free. The Sheesh Mahal has become a Leeds institution, regularly winning accolades as one of the City's top Indian eateries.
The food is bought in daily and cooked from fresh ingredients, - the aroma is testimony to the foods freshness. Mango sorbet with strawberry jam layers and a light vanilla ice cream crown, topped with pistachio pieces. Mascarpone ice cream on a biscuit crumb and raspberry sauce base covered in raspberry and blackcurrant sauce and white chocolate shavings.

Services
The basis of the cooking is Pakistani in style and taste using the basic traditional ways of cooking and have been passed down from Azrams mother and Father, and also wife who has been a solid back to the restaurant. Sheesh Mahal success of the story is to treat people how you would like to be treated yourself as human - not as business contenders or money.
Pronounced gooseberry flavours and everything you would expect to find in classic NZ Sauvignon. Crisp and refreshing it has a rich texture and lively tropical fruit flavours. This Rioja Crianza is ruby red, has excellent harmony of fruit, tannin and oak and is renowned for its velvety smooth feel in the mouth.

This has been my regular go-to for a takeaway over the past few years and I believe that the quality of food has recently declined. I picked up my usual choice of food a couple of nights ago and was horrified at the price. I ordered a starter, main and peshwari naan and it came to over £17! Really guys?? 17 quid for a take-out for one person? That's 3 quid more than I paid 2 months ago and the food is simply not worth it sorry. I will be looking for another curry house from now on. Small portions and some indecipherable vegetables in my korma - mostly looks like marrow with a bit of cauliflower

We visited this fine establishment on the 27th of November, we had visited before the Boxing Day floods but not been since the reopening.
For starters we had seekh kebab, fish pakora, vegetable samosas and onion bhaji (with a proverbial gallon of sauce) and all of them were exquisite.
For main I had the chicken and spinach garlic, the seasoning was perfectly balanced, just the right amount of spice and the exquisite burst of sweet tangy flavour from the baby garlic cloves were a definite highlight. The rest of my company had chicken tikka masala (very good, one of the best he has ever eaten)

As a whole it's not too bad, food is nice but I have had nicer. It is very small and you feel like you're sat on each others knees when sat at the tables. Not really room for such as myself who uses crutches due to disability. The staff, well they were okay but to be honest seemed like they couldn't be bothered most of the time. I've been 3 or 4 times now but it's been the same mostly. Given the choice I don't think I'd come here much again if at all as there are better. There is another curry place a few doors down, run by the same family. Seems nicer in there

I find it hard to review the Sheesh Mahal simply because it's so close to Bengal Brasserie, which is the best curry in Leeds! But on the odd occasion I've been here I was mildly impressed. The curries are the highlight (fortunately!), but I do remember the naans being surprisingly greasy, which put me off quite a lot. I also don't remember the staff being amazing, with not many smiles being flashed around. Not bad overall, but there are better alternatives.

Sorry I just cannot agree with the other reviewers of this restaurant. We had our work Christmas meal here and left it to the restaurant to serve us.
Not in the least bit inspiring, the food was bland, service was good but I would rather that they didn't give us a special deal and made savings on the food.

We always visit Sheesh Mahal before going to the cinema. It's a great little Indian restaurant with upstairs and downstairs seating. The food is suprisingly authentic and presented excellently. The service is also notably good, with the waiting staff always happy to assist in any way possible.
Good prices, good service and good food. Definitely a place you should check out if you're in the area or visiting the retail park opposite.

When my friends suggested we should go out for dinner at Sheesh Mahal my gut reaction was "nooooo have you seen that place". Situated on the corner of one of the busiest and grottiest roads in Leeds I had always thought "what a horrible place to have a restaurant" when driving past. Not only that, the outside of the shop displays some really tacky window designs which are very uninviting. My friends assured me I would enjoy myself so I went with the flow.
Oh my gosh am I glad I went. Not only did I come back with more change than I usually do from a slap up Indian meal, but

Despite its rather unassuming exterior and undesirable location right on a busy road, Sheesh Mahal is without a doubt one of the best Indian's in Leeds. Straddling the gap between upmarket restaurant and simple curry house, Sheesh Mahal has all the comfort and service of a fancy restaurant with none of the pretensions, and the food is of a comparable quality to restaurants that where you'd happily pay twice the price. I have visited here on a number of occasions, and over time tried pretty much every vegetarian option on the menu, and each time have found the food, service and atmosphere

One of the best, and arguably the most popular, Indian restaurants in Leeds, Sheesh Mahal has been turning out spot on Asian cuisine for years.
It sits on the busy Kirkstall Road opposite the Cardigan Fields complex, and is usually almost full, especially on weekend evenings (best to book if this is your preferred time of visit).
Its popularity is due to the fact that it presents hugely tasty traditional Indian and Pakistani cuisine in unpretentious surroundings (true, it could do with a bit of a refurb but it works for me).
The meals are very reasonably priced to say that it is clearly cooked
