Central Bean's classic espresso* includes high quality speciality coffees from El Salvador, Brazil and Ethiopia, blended using techniques originating from the Pacific NorthWest and roasted in the Northern Italian style. This is a favourite coffee shop by a long way. The staff are great and make the best coffee bar none. The range of products is great and it's reasonably priced. The set up works well so you don't wait for hours to get served and it is a great place to sit and watch the world go by accompanied by a latte (other coffees are available) and something tasty. We love the bacon and brie sandwiches and there is always something sweet just to make sure you get a balanced meal🤣

Nice coffee & venue. But...if only the girl carrying the cups & saucers would try not to bang them around. What a racket and it spoilt the surroundings for me. I am not just talking about one or two times but 5 trays of washed dishes being dropped onto the bench and what a racket when removing them. So only 3 stars i'm afraid.

Great location to do a spot of work from. Staff are friendly and efficient, there is free Wi-Fi, plenty of seating and power points by most chairs.
The atmosphere is usually fairly quiet and relax Ed. The Café is located right next to St. James Metro Station.
I'm not a Coffee drinker myself, but they sell a good selection of teas here!

I LOVE the coffee and the decor of this place. This coffeeshop has a very mod yet retro theme going on, it's very fresh and smart. It's also located right near St. James Park, but far way from it so you won't hear the football chants, but it sits right at the perfect spot with the perfect amount of sunlight lighting up the entire store, which gives this cafe a very warm, cozy and comfortable environment to sit and read, whilst enjoying their great coffee.
Their americanos are probably the most expensive in the area, but not without reason: they grind the coffeebeans on the spot

The best coffee bar I've been in in Newcastle. great coffee made by experts. a very good selection of coffee rather than just latte's etc.
very good fresh sandwichs and excelent organic chocolate biscotti.
they do a very good coffee and sandwitch/cake deal.
have free wifi, though you have to ask for the password.
if you bring a coffee from other coffee shops they'll swop you it for one of theirs

Central bean is basically the Starbucks for the slightly cooler coffee fan. A one of a kind (at the moment) coffeehouse situated in central Newcastle with brilliant decor, free wifi and most importantly great coffee. Coffee is freshly ground to order (i.e. per cup not per giant jug!), meaning it takes a couple of minutes, but its well worth the wait. A great array of fantastically priced sandwiches, cakes and even little packets of 'SunMaid' raisins for the nostalgic/health concious.

A 'contemporary' coffee house, selling all kinds of freshly brewed coffee,like American style like expresso, cappucino and drip brewed, but you can get tea and soft drinks too. Looks to me like an attempt to recreate the central perk coffee house in the 'Friends' series. You can get a deal that includes a sandwich, soft drink and cake although the sandwiches are up-market type, with exotic fillings. It offers free wifi too. This an adult orientated cafe or business class, if this is the setting you prefer it's ideal.
