Services
The production of salt was possibly the most influential industry in Sunderland's long history and we have chosen our name to reflect this once valuable commodity. Before refrigeration was developed, salt was used to preserve foods like meat, fish and vegetables and it was needed in large quantities by the local population and further afield.
A comforting selection of homemade classic dishes made with as much local produce as we can muster. For a lighter lunch we have the best range of sandwiches around, made with either door stop farmhouse bread or crispy ciabattas. Keep an eye out for the Chef's delicious Daily Specials. Every Friday & Saturday night we serve up a delicious Small Plate Menu, perfect for sharing.

Small but stylish restaurant overlooking the beautiful sandy beach of Seaburn.
We rang to book a table while en-route and were pleasantly surprised at being able to get a table.
My wife and I both ordered the Sunday lunch. We both ordered a side of pigs-in-blankets. I had thought about ordering an extra Yorkshire pudding, but having seen them on other diner's plates I decided against it.
The staff are very pleasant and serve an absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch.
Everything was cooked to perfection, and the portion size is perfect. We'll definitely return.

Went here today with 2 of our close friends Terry and Karen.
They really enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere of The Salthouse Kitchen as I did too.
It's really lovely when you reccomend a restaurant and it surpasses all expectations which it did today.
Fantastic .
If you haven't been here yet then
I recommend you try it.

Lovely people and excellent food. This restaurant stayed open beyond their normal hours to cater for our delayed family wake.
They were so attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. We ordered a very wide range of dishes. The presentation was wonderful and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.
Thank you Salt House Kitchen for providing such a welcoming place for us during a difficult time.

I wouldn't recommend that place! I have been there a few times and I always found it a bit expensive but I liked the location and the views so I always came back there..till now! Last time I went there I ordered a cappuccino and avocado toast...what a big mistake.. the cappuccino tasted really really bad! And then I waited one hour for my toast ... and when I was finally being served ... I god only 2 small slices of bread with avocado on top with some spices! It was a sandwich not a TOAST! Not to mention I wanted one hour and the waitress did not even apologise. Plus the toast was more than £7
