The course is open. Having originally been founded at Goathland in 1892 Whitby Golf Club has been located in this stunning clifftop location between Whitby and Sandsend since 1895. There are wonderful views along the coast between Kettleness and the iconic Whitby Abbey and views inland towards the rolling North York Moors.
Where ever you are on the course you are guaranteed a view of the sea! Whitby Golf Club is easily accessible from the North East via Middlesbrough and from the South and West via Scarborough and York. The course is perfect for visitors as it is neither too long or difficult, but remains a good challenge for the lower handicap golfer.

Services
The club was formed by a number of Whitby gentlemen with the principal promoters being Major A Simpson, Lieutenant Colonel T N Marwood, Captain J C Simpson, Mr A Marwood, Mr H Weighill, Mr J Moore and Mr L Greenwell - all names still familiar when you view the honours boards on display in the Clubhouse.
Thanks to a 10,000 community project grant from England Golf and The R&A we were able to convert our old Pro Shop into a Virtual Golf Studio. It gives us great pleasure in announcing that the Virtual Golf Studio is now complete and ready to use. We have a few more little cosmetic bits to finish but the screen, simulator and its software is now all up and running.
Unfortunately we do not have buggies here at Whitby. We do have 3 electric PowaKaddy rentall trollies. These are available for on the day hire only. We have some small lockers available to store personal belongings while playing our course. Please speak to a member of the team in reception if you wish to use one.
Whitby Golf Club provides a warm and relaxing welcome to golfers and visitors. The well-appointed clubhouse provides hospitality for members and visiting parties in our comfortable Bar and Lounge. The spike room and patio area offer superb views of the course and this is where you will check in for your round.
Thank you to all ladies who travelled to Whitby to play in this year's open. A great day was enjoyed by all and the weather stayed mostly dry. Look out for the photos of the day which will be published on our Facebook page in the next coming days. Thanks also to the Whitby Ladies section and Sam, Linda and Catherine who gave all players a warm Whitby welcome!

Having booked and paid online living 150miles away £32.50 each we arrived at the course spoke to a pleasant lad behind the the bar who signed us in and explained where the 1st tee was and set us going. The first 9 holes were ok then we crossed the road to start on the back 9 what a nightmare fairways were bone dry greens were like concrete we continued playing but was not a pleasurable experience we finished the round and left the course. Once I returned home I contacted the golf club (Amanda) who informed me that they were having troubles on the course the green keeper had resigned & walked out

Fantastic coarse, take plenty of balls if the winds blowing , I'm off 12 and reasonably straight but still lost 4 balls 😁 an important thing is acquaint yourself with the layout before you tee off as there weren't any strokesavers available in the sparsely stocked pro shop , and it's not always obvious where the hole goes, however there's a small map on the score card .
You will get a very friendly welcome , I was very impressed everyone was really helpfull and friendly , the coarse is reasonably wide so don't think you have to be a single digit handicapper to get round .
The ACE up this coarse
