The Athenaeum always has a busy calendar of social events for members and their guests. From Presidential dinners which include dining evenings with speakers, the more formal evenings of the annual Burns Night and Annual Dinner but also casual dining evenings, wine tasting evenings, musical events and many more.
From its foundation in 1797, the Library has been one of the most important facilities associated with the Athenaeum. Though not the first library in Liverpool, it is now the only remaining substantial collection in private hands. The collection of about 60,000 volumes has been created over the years by both purchase and donations from Proprietors.

Charming establishment with so much history from over the decades. Well worth a visit if you know a friend or relatives who are members.
The library has documents and maps which are hundreds of years old. It was fascinating to observe such items. The library is the best by far. The club was originally set up by wealthy trade merchants centuries ago who would exchange books and papers from across the Globe and share experiences of travel. There will have been many deals done at this establishment. Originally then it would have been in the tea room until coffee was introduced into the country.

We had a works evening meal here. The food was second to none and the service was friendly and sufficient.
The surroundings where brilliant and found some wonderful picture points especially in the old library.
I love character in buildings and this was deffinately a building full of character.
Thanks to the venue and staff. Although the gentleman on the front desk could... Smile and be slightly more welcoming.
