The Gallery At Munro House
We curate exhibitions, and work with artists, universities and arts organisations, to create interesting shows for the walls of our beloved space. Please enjoy our website, our exhibitions, and know that when you come to see a show here, and you buy a sandwich or a coffee, you are supporting us in more ways than you realise. Please note that while our cafe is currently open, the exhibition space is currently not showing any exhibitions.

Since then our bakery and sandwich shop, Caf 164 which also occupies the space, has thrived and sustaining a traditional style gallery alongside it became impossible, often not fitting with the flavour of hospitality that we wanted to offer.

That said, we are still very much a gallery - we create concepts for exhibitions, we source artists, funds, we work to support students, local artists, and we still strive to bring art and artists to Leeds from further afield like we always set out to do back in 2011, we just have more tables in our space.
We aim to keep our programme as flexible as possible throughout each calendar year, with exhibition themes and content ranging across a broad spectrum of subjects, styles, and media. The gallery programme is loosely scheduled around a rolling four week turnaround, while events are hosted on an ad-hoc basis.
These Northern Types is a typographic exploration of Northern identity, bringing together type design, experimental production methods, public engagement, and written word by local writers, poets, academics and musicians to ask some big, sometimes awkward questions about the essence of what it is to be 'a Northerner'.
Fresh Yorkshire Aires celebrates the creative and cultural breadth of 'God's own country', showcasing graphic scores and visualisations of sound by artists based in Yorkshire.

This exhibition includes work by artists and composers from all over the region, including four new commissions by Jez Riley French, Katie English, Nigel Morgan and Jacob Thompson-Bell, and featuring live performances by acclaimed pianists Matthew Bourne and Phillip Thomas playing as a duo.Join producer and composer Jacob Thompson-Bell for a workshop exploring graphic scores.
The month of May is all about food and culture in Leeds, and as part of Leeds Indie Food Festival, we've made Leeds' first ever edible art exhibition! Yes, it's a whole exhibition, made of cake! It's all to raise awareness for the British Art Show, widely recognised as the most ambitious and influential exhibition of Contemporary art in the UK.

Was a bit surprised that this was essentially a cafe with some art pieces dotted around - the gallery website didn't quite make that clear. The coffee shop aspect was great but didn't feel we could really go and look at much of the 'gallery installations' (there were only a couple) as they were placed amongst tables and it would have been a little odd to stand over people. Essentially a nice coffee shop but weird art gallery (and unfortunately I visited with the gallery in mind).

Nice independent coffee stop but rude and unfriendly staff that made us feel very unwelcome.

Admittedly, I don't often visit the galleries and museums in Leeds, and that's a huge faux pas on my part. It's not through a lack of interest in art, nor a lack of intention, but the classic 'I never seem to find the time' excuse rears its ugly head and six months have passed and I still haven't had a look in to some of Leeds' more cultural and exciting spaces. Shame on me.

So, when I realised I was available to see the third installment of 'The Grief Series: What is left' last night at Leeds Gallery, I dived on the opportunity. Let me explain what
