It soon became clear that we required a larger and more suitable location and so in 1986 we moved to our current site in Beamish Street, Stanley, County Durham. On leaving school Malcolm immediately started working in the soft furnishings industry and over the years has developed a natural talent and skill - today mainly concentrating on sales and the technical side of measuring and fitting.
Elsa concentrates on the smooth running of the business and is quite often seen in the workshop making blinds. We are experienced in both internal and external window treatments and closely work with a regular team of talented Interior Designers, bringing in a whole design scheme if required. Our portfolio covers both the individual private sector as well as the commercial corporate market.

Here at Blinds Etcetera, we not only cover windows, but furniture too. We offer a made-to-measure service and specialise in all types of soft furnishings, headboards, bed canopies and window seats. In fact, give us a challenge and we are sure we can come up with a solution.

We invite you to visit our showroom and browse freely, take patterns home for your perusal, or we can order pattern samples and send them out. We provide a bespoke make up service where your fabrics are professionally made in our own workrooms by experienced staff including all your accessories. We also offer a full measure and fit service.

We ordered 3 solar powered velux window blinds, Malcolm came to fit and discovered the supplier had sent the wrong items, so had to leave. He returned once the supplier shipped the correct blinds and quickly had them all fitted, so we now have a bedroom that light doesn’t stream into at dawn!
The sign of a quality company is how they handle things if something goes wrong, and in the case of Blinds Etcetera everything was spot on, no fuss and minimal delay. A top quality service from start to finish and we’d have no hesitation in using again or recommending to friends and family.
