Our offices are open for business, however both of our receptions will be closed between 1 and 2pm. The vast majority of appointments can (and are) dealt with via telephone, e-mail or other electronic means and we will continue to limit attendances at our offices until the government guidelines are updated.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued cooperation and understanding. Everyone needs good legal advice once in a while. It's important for the big decisions in life, like buying or selling a property, drawing up a contract or making a will. And it's downright essential when life gets messy and you need to sort out disputes or fight for a fair settlement.
Services
Our Property & Commercial Team prides itself on the wealth of knowledge and expertise gained over years of personal and business property transactions. Our Private Client Team is regularly commended for its professionalism and approachability in assisting clients and their families in planning for the future.
Believed to be originally based in Tavistock, the firm came to Totnes in 1832 and had its first office at 19 High Street, Totnes, a former Elizabethan Town House which the practice still occupies as one of its main office buildings. Successive generations of the Windeatt families became partners of the firm and were prominent in the life of Totnes and its surrounding district.
Buying or selling a property is often a time of great excitement, but there is usually a huge amount to think about, from arranging removals and insurance to remembering to take the guinea pig. Whether you are buying or selling, we recognise the value of having a conveyancer you can trust to get on with all the legal formalities, leaving you free to deal with everything else.
Buying a home with your partner, spouse or a family member, is usually an exciting and busy time. With everything else to think about you may not have given any thought to who owns exactly what share of the property. But the time will come when one or both of you wish to sell. You may have contributed unequally to the property and so it is important to record the contributions you have made, and how the sale proceeds will be split.
You may wish to release capital or equity so you can carry out home improvements, or you may simply want to switch to a more favourable rate or flexible terms with a new lender. If you are looking to remortgage we can recommend a suitably qualified Independent Financial Advisor to help you find the best deal, and once you have an offer, we will take care of all the legal technicalities.
