Services
Uplowman C of E Primary School is a happy and supportive Christian learning community where we recognise and develop the unique gifts and personal qualities of all. Our mission is to enable all children to "live life in all its fullness" (John 10:10, the Bible).
We work in partnership with parents and carers (also the parish and local community; the Diocese of Exeter; Devon County Council; Tiverton Town Council and the Uplowman Parish Council) to find ways of ensuring that every child at Uplowman has the chance to discover their strengths within school and beyond.

The Governing body is made up of people from a range of backgrounds but all with a common interest, that being the wellbeing of the pupils at school and the staff. They are there to assist the Head Teacher and Staff in the strategic management of the school.
The positions are voluntary and Governors give their experience and expertise in order to help provide a facility where the children are both happy and striving to reach their potential in every way.The Full Governing body usually meet six times per year, in addition to these meetings there are two sub-committees linked to Resources and Teaching & Learning.

This is a very exciting time, we are so pleased that your child will begin their school journey with us. The Staff, Governors, children and parents welcome you and your family to our school community. Starting school should be a happy and exciting time for your family, we know that you will have lots of questions to ask us and hope the information here will begin to answer at least some of those questions.
The Mathematics Curriculum, launched in 2014, has meant a rejigging of some expectations and content. The Mathematics curriculum will organised along four different themes and the children will work progressively through these. Our curriculum aims are to combine innovative approaches with rigour and high expectations right across the primary curriculum, so that we can develop more creative ways to meet the needs of all our pupils.
The Staff at Uplowman Primary School are committed to ensuring that all pupils are 'stretched and challenged' academically. We are all aware of the research showing disadvantaged pupils often fall behind their peers, achieving lower grades throughout their education. This is known as an 'attainment gap' and the purpose of the Pupil Premium (PP) is to 'narrow the gap'.
