I was charged 40 pounds more than agreed. When I asked for an explanation the person I talked to was rather dismissive though he mentioned that ‘someone should have called’ – but nobody ever called me. We had agreed on 60 pounds, but I had to pay 100 pounds for the reparations – basically the cost of a new bike. I am still not sure why it was so expensive. Really unacceptable.

The friendliest people in town! Each time I've been in there, they've resolved my issue and they have the most pleasant attitude. I always leave with a smile. Thank you!

Fantastic converted chapel with licensed cafe downstairs and bike shop upstairs. Food of the sandwich or breakfast variety nice if not a little pricey. Only real complaint would be the staff can feel a bit stand-offish on a weekend but the everything else pretty much makes up for it.

I've used your Bike Doctor service at Oxford Brookes University more times than I can remember. Kevin saved my Dutch bike (from 1974 he discovered!) many times and continues to keep my rides save and smooth over the years at minimal cost. Thank you!

The bike doctor at Brookes replaced my front and rear brakes for £15 each. When I told my friend it made him laugh because he could have got the part for a fraction of the price and easily replace it. I feel ripped off and sad.

Lovely cycling themed cafe, excellent food. They also have a cycle shop upstairs and a Wattbike studio where they hold indoor cycling fitness sessions. If that's not enough, the staff are great too

Went to get my bike fixed at the Brookes drop in a few weeks ago, service was absolutely fantastic. I was able to drop my bike in last minute and it only cost me £5 for an entire service and new inner tube! Staff extremely friendly, very very pleased. Couldn't rate them higher!

I was on a bike tour through the UK and was working with Walton Street Cycles to have my bike packed in a box to ship it back to New York City in the USA. Although they were reasonably friendly and agreed in advance to pack up my bike same day, they quality of the packing job was egregiously shoddy. When I received my bike in the USA my brake levels were poking out of the box with no protection as was the skewer of my wheel. The bike was not disassembled whatsoever for protection. A small amount of bubble wrap was basically thrown into the box without really being wrapped around any important parts

Not happy with this shop at all. Massive let down. Took the bike I bought from them for my girlfriend back with a broken hub. This happened just as we were riding along a canal towpath - nothing serious. I investigate Formula 1 race car material failures for a living and know that this was a material defect in the hub. They tried to argue we'd given it a knock which is complete rubbish... Finally they agreed to take it in under warranty (it was less than a year old afterall). They sent the wheel back to the manufacturer, then we heard nothing. When I phoned up to get some news they seemed

Walton Street Cycles is no Cycle King or Halfords, but if all you're after is bits and bobs for your bike, it does the job just fine.

There's a small but good range of bikes - mainly road bikes in the traditional Oxford style, but also some BMXs and an unusually high proportion of folding bikes. I always find these rather amusing, but they must be pretty useful for commuters. It's good for normal bikes and for more unusual requests.

A team of mechanical types seem to be able to fix most problems - I know some people who have had punctures fixed here and brakes tweaked, and
