As we turned 60th in 2021, Stanley Travel continues to be a dominant force on the travel and transport landscape. We dedicate ourselves to continual and thorough checks and reviews to ensure every process, every journey, and every vehicle, matches the high standards and long-standing family beliefs of our founder, and father, Robert McGill Scott, when he started the business in 1961.
Back then we were Stanley Taxis, with just two taxis in a wooden hut. Today, we have over 80 vehicles and are North Durham's largest taxi operator and a major employer with more than 90 staff. We still offer taxi services across the region, but we also have coach services, day trips and bus services, as well as corporate travel at both home and abroad.

Earned recognition is a new way for vehicle operators to prove they meet driver and vehicle standards. Participants regularly share performance information with the DVSA and in return, their vehicles are less likely to be stopped for inspections.
Earned Recognition is accredited to operators who record and submit data which satisfies key performance indicators relevant to vehicle maintenance, drivers' hours and recognises operators that show high standards of compliance.The DVSA admit that roadside checks cost operators time and money and use up their own resources.

The Peoples Kitchen has been supporting those who need help in Newcastle for over 3 decades. Established thanks to one woman's determination, the organisation has grown enormously from its humble beginnings under the railway arches at Dean Street, but the philosophy remains the same. They continue to offer clothes, food, warm surroundings and a warm welcome to anyone that needs their help.

Whether it's a night out, airport transfer or you're just running a little late, our booking office in Stanley Bus Station has a team of professional booking clerks to deal with your queries and telephone bookings.
Our stunning fleet of coaches can cater for the needs of all types of groups. Whether you're young, older or "rather not say", we value each and every customer, which is why we regularly take calls enquiring about different groups, journeys and requirements, and find the best fit travelling option for you.
Outside of these hours we have an enquiry line which can be contacted on 01207 230000 (between 7am & midnight, 7 days a week.) In order for your trip to run smoothly, the driver will take instructions from the group leader only. This person should identify themselves to the driver.
The coach will always arrive at the pickup point at the time booked, please have your group ready to board the bus, as in some circumstances there are waiting restrictions in force.Please note that for the comfort and safety of all passengers smoking is prohibited on our coaches. Please respect the driver and our coach; use litter bins on the coach, as any litter has to be cleared so that the coach is ready for the next hire.

Only because I can't give zero. We booked a taxi from the South causey at a specific time days in advance at 11:30. If we didn't ring they weren't going to send one out! They told us they were trying to clear a taxi and hung up. Rang us back trying to rebook this was a £40 fare pre midnight so pretty sure this company has done this fur more cash. Disgusted

We booked a wheelchair accessible taxi to take my very elderly mum to my daughters wedding. Stanley Taxis were fantastic. They were on time, waited whilst there was a delay at the care home and looked after mum beautifully. The driver was lovely and they had sent an extra person to help. On the day the taxi did three trips all on time. It really helped make the day go well knowing that mum was going to be transported safely to the different venues. A big thank you from us.

Booked a taxi from a friends house after garden bbq, all social distancing in place, driver John was great, taxi was running 10 minutes late but the office called in good time to let us know, taxi was roughly priced at £19 and cost just over £20, gave the driver £21 to round it up. Brilliant service and will definitely use again, thank you 5*****
