Our advice is always yes. Often buyers associate the need for a survey with older properties. However, we have found some potentially serious defects even on brand-new properties. A property purchase is a big investment and ideally you want to have a thorough understanding of what you are buying.
Typically the RICS Homebuyer Service will be suitable for a modern unaltered property, whilst a more complex, extended, converted or pre Second World War property will be best served by the RICS Building Survey.We look at on-line marketing details for the property to make an assessment of what the most appropriate survey would be for each property.

Below are some examples of past and present case studies with project information and images. The extension was designed to be slightly larger than that required by the client as it was felt that the result would be in proportion to the rest of the house and blend in well.
Some internal re-arrangement of the accommodation was included in this project although the main additional accommodation comprised of a large living room and kitchen with master bedroom suite above including bathroom and dressing room.The extension includes the section with the first floor bay window.

I called several surveyors to organise a RICs valuation for my property, including Ed Chamberlain. Not only did they offer a reasonable quote, the service has been exceptional. Angela, who organised and carried out the valuation, was friendly and helpful; this was particularly important to me as I have little experience or knowledge in this area.
