We had a brilliant weekend with our family at Magpie Cottages. Liz and family couldn’t do enough for us.
The cottages were great and had everything we needed plus we made the most of the outdoor seating at the back as it was such lovely weather during our stay.
As well as the gorgeous location and fantastically friendly hospitality, one of the highlights was the food we ordered from the in house menu. Will recommended a couple of dishes to us, the chana masala and the chicken nagan kozhi. We ordered them with steamed rice and a mix of garlic and plain naan. Everything was absolutely delicious

Absolutely amazing. Liz and Ian are brilliant hosts. Spa room is amazing and very clean. Liz was really helpful, telling us what things to do and where to go. Any problem she was just a ring/text away. Always on time with answers. If you love horses you can meet loads of friendly horses there. You can go on beautiful walks and hikes. Loads of food and drink options around the area. And Manchester isn't too fair away for a night out in town. Definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a relaxing staycation away.

Had a fantastic stay here. The accommodation is lovely and so are the grounds. The farm is full of horses which is brilliant for kids and horse owners alike. The river in which it sits is gorgeous too. There are plenty of lovely walks you go can on using the cottages as a base. Fishing on the river looked to be typically seasonal and tide dependant, as the river is extremely shallow in parts, so bare this in mind and check tidal forecasts. The only thing that let it down is the surrounding towns, they weren't as 'villagey' as we first expected. However this clearly isn't magpies fault. Would definitely

We have had an amazing time recently at Magpie Cottages. The accommodation was truly excellent and everything was so thoughtfully prepared for our arrival including a welcome pack of organic bread, homemade jam and eggs from the farm.
We were able to enjoy the new comfortable leather sofas and slept well on the one which easily pulled out into a generous sized double bed.
The place was clean and beautifully presented with special touches to make everyone feel welcome. Even our family dog had a dog bed, dish, blankets and towel!!!
Our 8 year old son has additional needs and both Liz and Ian went
