Children's education should help them fully develop their personalities, talents and abilities. It should teach them to understand their own rights, and to respect other people's rights, cultures and differences. It should help them to live peacefully and protect the environment. We are a happy, caring school where all children are encouraged to be active, independent learners.
We are proud to have been granted both the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Gold Award and the International Schools Award. Together, these recognize the school's underpinning ethos based on promoting inclusion, celebrating diversity and nurturing a respectful attitude where everyone's rights are recognised and valued.

Our school ethos is underpinned by the Rights Respecting Schools Award that we have held continually since 2013. To provide an inclusive, welcoming and safe learning environment in which every child is valued, cared for and supported. To offer a broad and balanced curriculum that provides children with the best possible learning opportunities and experiences, enabling them to enjoy their education and develop positive attitudes to learning.
The Governing Board support and challenge the Head Teacher and other school leaders to ensure that the school is run effectively for the benefit of all children. Their strategic role includes monitoring expenditure and resourcing, ensuring policies and procedures are in line with regulations and school improvement planning.
We are a school where adults listen to children and where our children have a voice and are treated with respect at all times. We are a diverse school where different cultures are celebrated and we are proud to educate children as global citizens who show care and concern for each other. The children's rights we foster are based on the United Nations Conventions on the Right of the Child (UNCRC).
In 2018 we were reaccredited with this award for another 3 year period. The ISA is a testament to how we embed international awareness and understanding within our school community, enriching education and empowering children to become global citizens. We have links with several schools abroad, namely in France, Togo and China.
We were delighted to receive the Artsmark Gold Award in 2019, valid for two years. This was in recognition of the wide range of cultural and artistic opportunities available to children. You have increased partnership working over the past two years, enabling staff and pupils to raise their expectations and demonstrate their work in a range of settings.
