Whereas Chester Master Ltd was created in 1999 the origins of its business date back to the 1940's. Our records suggest that the business itself was created in the mid to late 1940's when Strutt & Parker, currently one of the leading firms in the UK, took on the management of two large local estates.
In the early 1950's Charles Woosnam, who's father had run a land agency firm in the area for many years, was appointed to run the office by Strutt & Parker and take on his father's work on his retirement. During this period the office was based at Ceris, Broadway, Builth Wells. Two years later in 1956 Strutt & Parker merged with another firm to become Strutt & Parker, Lofts & Warner.

Services
Since devolution the Welsh Assembly Government has used its devolved powers increasingly to develop policies that are quite distinct from the rest of the UK but designed instead to address the specific needs of its different regions. As a result planning, agriculture, renewable energy and other rurally targeted policies are often quite different from other areas of the UK.
We manage currently 35,000 to 40,000 acres in Wales and the Borders for a wide range of clients. Commercial property (including telecommunications masts, pubs, electricity sub stations and shops). Many of these properties have Ancient Monuments, Conservation & Heritage Designations (such as listed buildings and Sites of Special Scientific Interest) and public access (via public and private rights of way or CROW Act land).
As well as acting for a large number of private clients we have also managed the Natural Resources Wales mast portfolio and handle the telecommunications negotiations for the Representative Body of the Church in Wales. Mobile Telecommunications masts - erected by the mobile phone operators such as Vodafone, Everything Everywhere (the result of the merger of T-Mobile and Orange), Telefonica O2 and H3G to create their mobile phone networks.
The Government has set itself a target of generating 10% of UK electricity from renewables by 2010 - with an aspiration of 20% by 2020 - as part of its effort to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions whilst enhancing energy security. As part of its contribution to this target the Welsh Assembly Government hopes to be generating 800 MW of onshore wind and 200 MW of offshore wind by 2010.
Marketing - we market properties as widely as possible by using our own website, internet sites such as Zoopla and advertisements in local papers. References - we arrange for prospective tenants to have their references checked by the Homelet referencing agency. We use an RICS approved company called My Deposits to ensure our clients compliance with these regulations.
