Took my bike in for a service a couple of weeks ago. Before taking it I mentioned 3 issues. The back wheel felt out of alignment, the lockout forks weren't locking properly and the front brake was juddering slightly. On taking it in I told them again what issues needed addressing
Didnt fix any of the faults and they didnt notice that the back tyre had a hole in the side wall.
Very poor service.
After I left I noticed the tyre myself and ended up changing it.
I took the bike to Lifecycle this week as the juddering had got worse. The guy there was fabulous and he told me what the judder was caused

I didn't have a good experience servicing my bike here last month. My bike hadn't been serviced for years and the brakes had a lot of travel, so I took it in. When I picked up the bike after the service, they didn't say anything about what they had done or give any information at all - they took my £40 and gave the bike back. Since the service, the front brake is noticeably better but the rear is no better. My gears, between ranges 5 and 8, now clunk into gear after a delay - something that never used to happen. I emailed them about it on 13 Aug but they never responded. Then, a couple of weeks

Needed a 2nd hand bike, they were very helpful, sorted me out with a great option, and economical new tyres too. I've been riding it around this afternoon, delivered drawings to a customer, it's perfect. They didn't want my 2 part xchange bikes, but helpfully told me where and how to price them to sell. Customer service was more like a friendly workshop than a retail experience (ie no frills!).

Abysmally awful.
I took a wheel in here to have a tube replaced, and when I got it back they'd taken a power drill to it - with no permission from me - so that they could fit a tube they happened to have in stock, rather than the correct one. The manager, an arrogant, surly oaf, claimed not to understand why I was not happy with this.
So if you're thinking of taking your bike here, don't expect it to be in good condition when you get it back. They believe that handing it over to them gives them the right to make any mods to it that are convenient for them.

There's nothing I'd love more than buying a posh bike from here and whizzing down Blackboy Hill, Whiteladies Road and Park Street before taking a peaceful cycle ride along the docks. The reality is, I live on a huge hill and would have to drag myself and the bike back after, which would not be quite so exhilarating.
It makes me very sad how hilly Bristol is, I'd be cycling all the time if it were flat. This doesn't put off a lot of cyclists in the city though, and this shop is a vital retailer to the people of Clifton and surrounding areas. They have a selection of top of

Family run and very welcoming, Blackboy Hill cycles offer an excellent service, both for repairs and for purchases. For the latter, they've got a massive range of bikes, and are main distributors for big brands such as Falcon and Haro. They check each bike before selling it, and also offer a free service for every bike they sell. On the repair front, they work very efficiently, usually diagnosing the problem whilst you wait and never taking longer than a few days to get it fixed. They don't charge extortionate prices either, and you get the impression they really care about doing a

Cycling here is a struggle, it's halfway up one of Bristol's steepest hills (and that's saying something in this city). Worth a visit though, they've got a good range of new bikes. Various accessories and offer repairs as well.
The repairs are usually why I come here and what's best about this shop in my opinion. When you come in they'll turn you bike upside down there and then and diagnose the problem. The guy that's usually there (sorry, can't remember his name) will then tell you in plain English what's going on and lay out the costs simply. They

I'm not sure why a bicycle shop has to be at the top of the hill?! By the time you get there, you are so out of breathe you can hardly verbalise that you need some new brake pads before you free wheel down again.
Okay, so I am a novice but this store sure isn't, it is one of Bristol most established and specialised cycle shop that sells, repairs and hires. The staff were really friendly on the day we went in on 'mission brakes'. They didn't laugh at my husbands 'antique' bike - looking completely out of place next to their outdoor display of shiny new bikes
