We were passing and dropped in for a meal. We were treated like very valued customers. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic. The staff were brilliant with my two sons, 3 & 5, treating them as if they were happy to have them there and taking their orders. Brilliant, we're not that near but we'll return.

Writing this review in November but our experience with the Half Moon started back in early August 2021. At this time we were looking for a place to stay and also find somewhere to have a function room for a celebration of life for a family member and this is where our relationship with the staff began. As soon as we met both Helen and Robbie and how comfortable they made us feel discussing our needs we felt as though we were part of a family and this has turned out to be very true. All through the Organisation of events Helen and Robbie have been so welcoming and nothing that we wanted was too

The people who own and run this small hotel really make the place. They have positive energy and are really welcoming and helpful. The menu in the restaurant is straightforward. The ingredients are all good quality local produce and the cooked breakfasts are excellent. The prices are reasonable for the quality. We stayed for 2 nights and both nights the restaurant was busy but service was still excellent. The restaurant has quite traditional decor but that is in keeping with the town generally. Our bedroom was very clean and had a fantastic up to date bathroom. The rest of the decor was a bit dated

If you want a lesson in how to do customer service right, the Half Moon should be your case study. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. They even got us back to our holiday cottage after we townies thought it would be easy to get a taxi. And the Toblerone tart was to die for. That should definitely become part of the menu!

Coming out of lockdown the Half Moon have fully embraced the opportunity to provide first class food, ales and atmosphere. One of the friendliest places we have ever visited. From the moment you walk in you are greeted and made to feel like part of the place with no awkward stares, just smiles and excellent service.
I cannot comment on the accommodation as we have not stayed; but everything else is beyond criticism.

The owners and staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel very welcome. Rooms were very clean, food was lovely, prices very reasonable, and the gardens were beautifully kept. Would definitely recommend the liqueur coffee - best I’ve ever had! Would definitely return. :-)

Hosts were perfect and welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean. Chef produced superb food. Waitresses were excellent. We had a very restful stay in this extremely happy hotel, it truly gives the sense of staying with family and nothing is too much trouble. Without any hesitation we highly recommend the half moon.
