Poppies is owned by a qualified and experienced primary school teacher and has been organised with imagination and care to ensure that your children will feel secure, valued and confident within their surroundings.

Services
Our nursery has adapted a highly structured yet totally relaxed environment whereby children can enjoy an organised yet enjoyable day in nursery. Our nursery has three main groupings referred to as Baby rooms, Toddler rooms and Pre-school rooms. Our baby rooms are comprised of two comfortable and spacious play rooms, a cosy sleep room and two separate nappy changing areas.
Incorporating a garden into a day nursery is a rewarding and wonderful additional space for the children. At Poppies we have 8 different garden areas ranging from herb gardens to bird watching areas, sensory gardens and several play areas. Children have numerous opportunities to play and learn within our beautiful and extensive outdoor areas.
We are registered as providers of education with Torfaen Education Authority and are liable to inspection at least every 4 years by Her Majesty's Inspectorate. We deliver a comprehensive nursery curriculum based on the new Curriculum for Wales and the Four Purposes. Healthy, confident individuals who are ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
As part of the minimum standard for CIW we ensure we adhere to the ratios of staff to children within each age range. The number of children per staff member varies depending on your child's age. Each age group has a designated Officer in Charge who ensures the smooth running of their room. All officers in Charge are qualified members of staff who have achieved their level 3 or level 4 childcare qualification.
Poppies Day Nursery employs a fabulous level 3 nursery cook. Our seasonal menus include a variety of well balanced, nutritious and tasty meals, freshly cooked in our level 5 rated nursery kitchen. We are able to accommodate for all kinds of dietary requirements, so please talk to us if your child needs a particular diet.
