As a Cantonese restaurant, the food was okay though not the best in town, but the service was awful… heard about it a few times, dinning there with a group of ten and some are not hungry. However the service lady repeatedly shouting (when taking the order) ”everyone must order a dish this is the rule so what you want?” I mean the Chinese share food so it doesn’t necessarily have to ask everyone to order a full course. This just wasn’t polite and make us feels like money cow. But of course take away is fine bc you don’t need their service.

I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken which was basically sweet and sour. Chicken was in batter and no peanuts nor Sichuan spices that I could determine. I queried it twice but didn't want to push it as that might have embarrassed my host.
I also ordered the "egg fried rice". This seemed to be just boiled rice with a bit of egg - no evidence of "fried" nor any of the ingredients I might typically expect.
To add insult to injury, the chicken was as tough as old leather - we were the first customers of the day and I genuinely can't believe it wasn't cooked chicken from the day before (or worse).

The food was alright but the service made us feel very unwelcome. To start, the waiter informed us that dishes we were interested in where either no longer available or were £2-3 more expensive than on the menu. This happened for 3-4 different dishes. After we started on our soups, a waiter came to let us know that we should not be soiling the large plates, as those are for the main course. We tried to ignore this as we wanted to enjoy our evening out as a family. However, it all culminated with the waiter shouting at me over the contactless card payment, insisting I should have put the card in

The restaurant looks nice, food comes fast. Unfortunately the quality of the food is very bad. All the worst quality. Wine served to warm and it is very expensive.
Quality to price does not match. Staff speak very little English It's hard to get along. I don't recommend this restaurant. Coca Cola served already in a glass, slightly carbonated I think poured from a large bottle and costs £ 4.

Long term patron of this place (since 2006 when I was an undergrad at Oxford Uni). On a recent visit I noted the quality of service has dropped significantly with some new faces amongst the serving staff - some of whom are very cold-faced, no apologies offered also for refusing to accept certain types of credit card and the some food items were 20% higher than what is marked on the menu. This is all despite customers getting auto-charged 10% for service. I would recommend that the restaurant owner revisits this issue or risk losing long term customers like myself.

The New Dancing Dragon is quite remote from the Oxford City Center and most other restaurants however you can easily get there by bus or on foot (~40min). That being said, the wonderful time we had there was more than worth the walk!
We went as a group of three and though it took us a while to decide what we wanted (the menu has incredible variety with nearly 300 options to choose from!) in the end we were thrilled with what we got.
We went for a vegetarian option (roasted aubergine), a hot pot (pork belly), some rice with shredded duck, and soup and dumplings as a starter. The food came very

Compared to Oxford standards, I'd say this place is 4 stars. Really tough to find good Chinese (whether takeaway or authentic) in the UK. However, if this place were in a context where better abroad Chinese cuisine was available (e.g., Toronto, Brooklyn), the food here is just okay, even if the owners/cooks are Cantonese.
Their dine-in choice of dishes reflect real Chinese menu items. This place is definitely one of the top most flavorful East Asian restaurants nearby. You can smell it from the outside, and you can see it in their clientele. Because of what the other options are in the area

The food at the dancing dragon was very good, staff very friendly but really not enough staff behind the bar, took ages to get a drink, they also had to fairly big groups of blokes on a night out who were very loud and the staff didnt seem bothered about the noise disturbing the rest of the customers. would go there again though as the food was good.they had a special offer on so we only paid £10.95 per head

Cheap and nasty worker canteen Style decor, limited range of (cold) buffet food, VERY rude staff, charged £5!!!! for hot water and a 10% service charge ON TOP of £15 per head for buffet?? I dunno what the service charge justifies as I damn well served myself!
Certainly a restaurant I won't be coming back to and I don't advise anyone else to either. Poor show.
Doesn't deserve even 1 star.

Not a pleasant place to eat. The food was okay - I've had far better even at a buffet - but the price was ridiculous! Buffet places are rarely good value as the average person can't eat enough to justify the price but what annoyed me most about this was the service charge. This was automatically put on my bill. However the big issue with it was that all they did was bring me a diet coke. Hardly justifies a large charge!

A lot of us remember the Kings Arms and are grateful that at least they've kept a decent bar area available. I've had quite a few good lunches there - they're cheap, decent and quickly served. The evening sessions can get fraught but these EAMAYL joints tend to get full of chavs. The place round the corner in S Parade is much better for takeaway and progressively for eat-in as they expand the number of tables.

I am surprised by the three very negative reviews. My family and I have always found the staff and service at the restaurant very helpful and friendly. The food is always fresh and tasty. It caters for many people's tastes and has a good variety of food. When you are paying very reasonable prices for the meals it will not be posh but it is extremely well presented and good value for money. Especially with the rising costs of food and especially rice; and every size appetite is satisfied!

Let's get this straight: this isn't a nice, traditional, high-quality Chinese restaurant; it is a feeding ground. There's a bar and a buffet style self service area. The staff are friendly but very keen to take your plate away and constantly ask you if you want more drinks. However, the food is plentiful and fills you up. It's not the greatest quality, but there's a good range and there are no catches; you can eat as much as you like. The price is surprisingly high for a restaurant of this genre this far out of town, so make sure you make it worth your while! There are
