Smugglers Haunt Hotel
This history-rich building comprises 14 guest bedrooms over 3 stories, and is situated in the heart of the idyllic fishing town of Brixham, and just a stone's throw away from the harbour. Brixham and surrounding Torbay offer a plethora of attractions, places of interest and natural beauty to appeal to all people of all ages.

The bed was super comfortable, and the room had a lovely cosy feel. The owners and staff, are extremely nice, genuine people. The building itself is full of character, and the new renovations are in-keeping with the historic value of the hotel. Wonderful place to stay.
Services
Dating back to the 17th century, the Smuggler's Haunt was originally 2 cottages, and was the residence of notorious Devonshire smuggler Bob Elliot in 1851. Following a large find of tobacco, he escaped Revenue men by being placed in a large coffin built in the carpenter shop, which is now the hotel's reception area.
No matter what time of year you visit Brixham, there's always something happening in this busy, pretty little fishing port. The summer months see Fishstock and the Brixham Regatta attract hundreds of visitors to the town, whilst regular arts and crafts markets held throughout the year offer plenty of unique shopping opportunities for both visitors and locals.
The rooms we offer range from single, twin, double and superior. All include en-suite bathrooms with shower, enjoy flat screen TVs and tea and coffee making facilities, wardrobe/closet, (wifi). Our superior rooms are more spacious than the others, and typically include a seating area.

One of our priorities throughout our renovations and improvements of the hotel is to bring every room to superior standard in regard to quality, comfort, design and convenience.
Like a home from home the hosts couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. Room very clean and little extras like toiletries, tea and coffee facilities leather sofa and a small fridge with water are really appreciated. We will definitely be returning in future.

Very clean, in fact spotless, very good English breakfast, The current owners Arlene & Mark were very friendly, welcoming & helpful at all times, we had a great stay at this hotel and thoroughly recommend it, we will definitely be choosing this hotel again for when we visit Brixham again. This is the first time we have stayed at the Smugglers haunt although we have visited Brixham many times, but what a delightful find this hotel was.

Hotel is well situated and kept clean. Staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast was good. Room is very basic but inline with what you are paying for. It is fine for solo travellers and non-fussy couples. But don’t expect the Ritz! Bathroom door frame should have some padding on the top of it as it is very low and dangerous.
