Browns Hotel
We take no upfront payments and all direct hotel bookings have free cancellation up to 5 days before arrival. Browns is a small townhouse hotel right in the centre of Dartmouth. Smart, contemporary furnishings and an unstuffy atmosphere make Browns an ideal place to relax and enjoy this charming Devon town and the spectacular Dart estuary and South Hams coastline.

There is a range of prices and styles to suit all occasions, whether you are booking one of our premium rooms or a classic or comfort room. Expect to find good beds, attractive furnishings, practical lighting, powerful showers and an excellent breakfast. Open daily - Whether it's for a coffee, a glass of wine, a beer, some nibbles, our bar is a tranquil spot for guest, locals and visitors 'in the know'.
Services
Light and airy, this huge open plan suite is on the second floor with roof top views over the town. The Blue Room has a luxury 6 foot wide 'superking' bed, a sitting area with sofa & flat screen TV. Furniture classics from Denmark create a modern feel that is both sharp and hugely comfortable. The bathroom is finished with limestone tiling and a radiator seat.
I enjoyed the modern but characterful feel of the hotel, lovely spacious room with mid century style furnishings. Light and airy bar and relaxed atmosphere was fun. These are stylish and individual en-suite double rooms. They are all a good size with somewhere to sit and enjoy coffee or read a newspaper.
Three of our eight rooms are designated 'dog friendly' so please do let us know in advance if you would like to bring your dog. We make a 20 charge per night for a doggie stay. Please have your dog on a lead downstairs and in the corridors - you might meet another guest or Muffin the resident Westie.
In Dartmouth's town centre there is little free long term parking. Most street parking is restricted to either 1 or 2 hours and the town car park is limited to 4 hours from the ticket machine during high season. At Browns we are happy to offer the use of a car parking voucher which allows our guests to park for free for the duration of their stay in the town centre 'Mayors Avenue' car park, some 300m from the hotel (TQ6 9NF).
Squeezed orange juice, cloudy apple juice, fresh fruits and Greek Yogurt. A selection of cereals including our organic muesli, a selection of bakery breads to toast with marmalade, jams or honey. Just ask if gluten free is preferred. 2 eggs cooked as you like them; dry cured bacon, sausage and Dartmouth butcher black pudding, mushrooms and grilled tomato.

A great find in the centre of Dartmouth. Home from home. Small dedicated staff all having a determination to make us feel welcome. Nothing too much trouble. Beds really comfortable, room and bathroom spotless. Unique method of changing linen, towels and hospitality using swop box so that no staff had to come into your room during your stay.
Only gave four stars because when we first arrived there was a smell of cooking fat throughout the public area. This disappeared after a day and was not noticeable in our room.
Breakfast delicious, thank you George.

The food was marvellous, especially dinner. The best meal that I have had in a long time.
The room , and more especially the upper corridor carpets and landing could do with a good clean.
Apparently due to covid there is no room service.....

The slightly unpromising exterior belies the modern interior. The bar area, though not to my pubby tastes is very contemporary and clean. Our room (we B&B'd ) was excellent and actually had a proper sofa! First class breakfast too but the stairs could be a problem for some.

Went for dinner. The food was good although the service was struggling to be acceptable. A number of the options on the menu were finished at 7:30pm. The team seemed to be under pressure but Covid might have been the reason for this so we respect that. Anyway, we will choose not to return..

Stayed over for three nights... Lovely, friendly staff. The rooms are all bright and airy with nice decor... We had one of the best meals ever in their restaurant... But not open on Sundays... The bar area is also lovely... Just a shame there's no outside area
