Counselling allows people to explore and think about things that may be worrying them, giving them the time and space to think through possible ideas. As physical beings, our bodies are a constantly evolving reflection of our past and current experiences.

There's a certain mystery and stigma surrounding counselling, and it's on route's mission to change perceptions so that our community can embrace it and get the most from it. Counselling gives you the time and space to tackle what's worrying you and move forward. Counselling can help us make sense of confusing emotions or damaging behaviours, and allow us the opportunity to change them.
Sometimes we get stuck in patterns of behaviour which we learned at an early age, and then continue to repeat throughout our lives. If these patterns are unhelpful or destructive they can interfere with all of our relationships, personal and professional. Counselling can help us make sense of confusing emotions or damaging behaviours, and allow us the opportunity to change them.
Over the years, people have developed different ways of doing therapy, and some of these approaches are described below. Whatever approach you choose, it's important to have a positive relationship with your therapist, so that you can develop trust and confidence that they understand you. Ask yourself whether being with them helps you to feel safe and good about yourself?
We often think that our bodies and minds are separate and function independently. At the same time, we understand that's not the whole story. We know that our emotions can affect us physically. For example, we know that a scary experience gets our heart beating faster, but it can be harder to realize that loneliness, sadness or depression can also have a physical effect on our organs and physical health.

Went to my first Mindfulness class yesterday with my partner and it was wonderful. Fantastic teacher! Really calming, down to earth and personable. Ensured we had water whenever needed and that we were comfortable throughout the sesssion. Put us all at ease and clearly skilled at engaging with those that have practised before to those that are exploring it for the first time. My partner and i slept really well last night and i felt my anxiety calm in the session - something i'm very keen to work on. Warm welcome from other staff (plus very helpful, friendly email comms when i had a question). The
