Services
Our professional independent practice of Chartered Surveyors has been in existence since 1986. We are a small team of chartered surveyors and architectual designers dedicated to achieving client satisfaction with prompt and competent service. Geoff Oliver, our principal Surveyor qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1982 and became a Fellow of the RICS in 1995.
We provide home buyer surveys throughout Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Margate and beyond. Our home buyer survey service is in accordance with the regulations set out by the RICS Home Buyer service, we can also offer drains and electrical tests with this type of survey. The surveyor gives their opinion on both the market value of the property and the reinstatement cost at the time of their inspection.
Residential Valuations are usually carried out on domestic properties for a variety of reasons. These can include probate, divorce or to establish the market Value of a property prior to marketing or purchasing. Residential valuations can also be for security purposes when approaching a lender for a mortgage or other loan.
This is an area largely following the procedure set out under the heading of Planning and Development. Chartered Building Surveyors are familiar with preparing architectural plans and designs and here at Geoff Oliver & Associates we are able to show prospective clients a portfolio of previous and current architectural design work.
Since the Party Wall Etc. Act 1996 came into force homeowners in England and Wales have to abide by the Act when building work involves a party wall or party fence wall, excavations close to the neighbouring buildings and new walls at boundaries. The Act is designed to avoid or minimise disputes by making sure property owners notify their neighbours in advance of these works.
