We are delighted to be back up and fully running after all the restrictions and closures. All menus are back to normal and we are happy that we can now cater for Weddings, Christenings and Birthdays in our function rooms once again. We are still continuing with our delivery service around Chapel and we are also back up and running with outside catering with buffets being delivered all over Derbyshire and Cheshire from 5.50 per head.

The history of The Hanging Gate can be dated back to over four hundred years ago when it was a shoemakers workshop owned by John Barratt and his wife Sarah. The building didn't open as a public house until 1836. At this time the road had a large gate across it so that a toll could be charged to travellers, hence 'The Hanging Gate'.
I am now in my 30th year of being here at the Hanging Gate. I love my job as much today as I did back in 1991. I have a fantastic team and every day I am so thankful that not only am I doing a job I love, but I get to do it with a very special team of people. Keely has been with us now for a staggering 18 years and her lovely nature and people skills make her a hit with all our diners.
We can provide for many different functions here at the Hanging Gate. Weddings, Christenings, Funerals & Birthdays. We can accommodate up to 180 guests and have various sized rooms to cater for parties of all sizes from 100 down to 2! We will advise the best and most comfortable way to accommodate your guests, ensuring we meet your requirements to the best of our ability.
Here at the Hanging Gate we welcome children and believe that they are just as important (if not more so!) than the grown ups. It is our intention that they shall be catered for in as many ways as possible and that if we have satisfied kids then we will also have happy parents and carers, yey! Our Children's Menu has many children's favourites, and some that will please mum too!
We are now doing outside Catering for all functions. Weddings, Birthday, Christenings & Funerals. We can cater for all & deliver all over Derbyshire and Cheshire. Hot & Cold Buffets available delivered to your chosen venue. We can discuss your requirements and tailor make the menus to suit your budget and requirements.

Finally visited this ace little pub, to see the Xmas decorations, and enjoy a lovely roast dinner whilst there. Staff friendly, service speedy, and food fresh and piping hot. As previously advised we booked a table as we've heard you can't get in otherwise. Staff cleaned tables and chairs thoroughly before re-setting after being used. We'd certainly pay another visit in the future. Lovely...

Absolutely amazing 10/10 food, service/ delivery... ordered a surprise breakfast for us 1 bonanza, 1 x full English, 3 x children's breakfasts everything piping hot when arrived and sorry I didn't get chance to take pics as the plates was cleared within minutes of it arriving! thank you hanging gate & team ❤
