Treat yourself to a relaxing stay in this charming 200-year old cottage surrounded by 20 acres of private nature reserve on the shores of Lough Neagh. Wake up to cows grazing, passing pheasants and our pony Milly and Tom the donkey. For a hearty breakfast we supply a welcome pack including fresh farm eggs from our own flock of hens, potato bread, bacon, orange juice, freshly baked scones and homemade jam.
A private five-minute walk past our pond leads to Lough Neagh where you can admire the outstanding view extending to the Mourne Mountains and Belfast Hills. From here enjoy lunch at the picnic table or pick your favourite trail through 20 acres of ASSI (Area of Special Scientific Interest) land. An old tree trunk and large stones are good stopping points to enjoy the peace and observe the riot of wild flower colour in mid-summer.

Services
On arrival the stove can be lit by request, homemade scones are to be found in the welcome pack along with the makings of an Irish fry. Fresh flower posies are in each room. The cottage is very warm with comfortable beds and it is squeaky clean. As well as the modern mistress stove the original gas light fittings are still in place in some rooms.
We thought Ireland might be a little hostile to us English. But oh how wrong we were. From our lovely host Kathleen to every single person we met who were warm and welcoming. Coming from the flatlands of the Fens to these beautiful rolling green hills and stunning natural scenery was just what we needed and with this as our base camp we will be back.

It's a must if you can get a booking here to meet Tom the donkey and feed him a couple of fresh carrots. The cottage is a lovely setting with full central heating and electric showers. There's a 28 inch smart TV in the living room and WiFi, speeds of roughly 2 Mbs. Past the gate with Tom there's roughly a 45 minute circumference walk you can go through that has all the great sights and sounds of a nature trail. Around the cottage there's badminton and picnic tables as well with lots of space for parking.

It is a very private place and feels like home as soon as you walk through the door. We stayed there on multiple occasions and it is like a second home to our family. Kathleen always makes you feel very welcome. Based centrally, so handy for day trips anywhere in the North of Ireland. The nearby small park with animals makes it very interesting for children, too.

Rated at 4* but should be a 5* self catering cottage. Cracking, quiet location with well kept lawns and a crunchy gravel drive. Extremely well appointed inside with some original features (including a cast iron range for your turf fire, the old gas light fittings and a huge roll-top bath). The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and the beds supremely comfy.
The welcome has to be appreciated to be believed...
