Route One
Bringing together the best of skate culture and street fashion, Route One has been kitting out skaters for over three decades. From seasoned pros to park first-timers, we're about perfect setups, support and style - for everyone. In 1989, two friends bailed on London life and headed West.

Dodging burn out, and ready to make a living doing something they loved, they set up a warehouse in a terraced house in Bristol, and started distributing action sports kit. Before too long (and after a few false starts) they opened the doors to the first Route One store. Over 30 years and six more stores later, we've helped tens of thousands of people dress, feel and skate better.
Services
We've got one shot at protecting our planet, we're all in this together. At Route One, we're aware that we have a big responsibility to acknowledge and reduce our impact as a business wherever possible. Because of this, we're working hard to reduce our environmental footprint and bring you products that literally don't cost the earth.
This year our teams in Bath, Bristol, Brighton, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Southampton closed their stores early to go down to the local spot to skate. Join our instagram community and show us your custom completes from Route One with #COMPLETEENVY. Check out Instagram for Inspiration and see and see what our teams have been building in store for our locals.
We've picked some of the best coats out there right now to keep you warm and dry from all your trusted brands like Patagonia, The North Face and Carhartt. There's plenty of choice depending on what you're looking for, from coach jackets and windbreakers for warmer days to parkas and puffas for the big chill.
We care about the little blue planet we call home, and we know the skate community does too. Our sustainable range respects environmental, human and animal welfare. Making better, more ethical choices should be simple, so we've selected products which align with internationally recognised best practices in the fashion industry.
Bluesign is a system that provides safer and more sustainable environments, both in the workspace and the wider world we live in. The system traces a product's path along the manufacturing process, aiming to improve its sustainability along the way. It eliminates harmful substances and approves chemicals, processes, materials, and products that are safe for the environment, workers and customers.

The perfect place to kit out yourself with a cool t shirt, skate shoes, baseball hat and a fresh set of tiptronic wheels. There's loads of choice from the usual skate brands: Dickies, Vans etc. I used to skate on my Alley Cat way back in the day; a would be seventies Dogtown boy, powering down the school hill and ending up in the bushes at the botttom. Staff are pretty hip in here and will give you time if you're looking to start skateboarding.

As a non-skateboarder, I was more interested in the clothes and shoes in Route One than the skateboards and supplies. Name brands like Vans, Supra and Dickies are a bit costly, but Route One had several things on offer for the Christmas season. Tops were about £20, or 2 for £35; and accessories were on offer 3 for the price of 2.

The front wall displayed several versions of remote control toys: spiders, snakes, modes of transportation...But my favourite was the non-electronic Racing Nuns set! Apparently they run on elastic bands. Quite intriguing.

The clothing in Route One wasn't

I gotta admit I've never done an ollie or a 360 kick-flip.

I have however, spent a lot of time watching other people practise and perfect these tricks and over the years have developed a strong appreciation for skateboarding as a sport and art form. I'm also a bit partial to buying skateboard gear for my younger, more sporty, little brother and one of the best shops to do this is Route One.

As the busy windows and spraypainted doorway suggest, Route One is a santa's grotto for skateboarders, snowboarders and BMX riders. Alongside new boards, wheels, helmets, pads and inline skates

People who know me now may find it hard to believe that I was once a badass skateboard, tearing it up around suburban Derbyshire.

Well, maybe I am exaggerating a little, but I did more than dabble in the fine art/sport of skateboarding. There is something exhilarating about gliding down a smooth concrete road on a skateboard, pushing off with your foot every so often in order to maintain momentum.

Although I no longer skate, I still sometimes like to see what's going on in the world of skateboarding. I also like some of the board designs (works of art in themselves) and the fashion that
