Carole Waller is a painter who specialises in painting with dye directly onto cloth for the purpose of making completely unique painted silk clothing - art to wear (called Wearable Art in the US). She has perfected the art of painting directly onto silk, making a wearable and washable painting with incredible richness of mark and colour.
Carole's work is exclusive and original art to wear, and she works to commission in addition to making a new collection twice a year. Find below a selection of pieces which might inspire you - and to which you can refer in coversation with Carole.

From a scarf to a coat, just get in touch and Carole will be happy to talk over the possibilities and you could soon be wearing your own absolutely fabulous piece of Carole Waller Wearable Art made especially for you.Browse the shop and the archive below to identify pieces you like from the various styles, designs and colours I have used in the past, to give us a starting point.
I love the versatility of Carole's clothes - one of her unique tops can take me through lecturing at the University, a lunch with colleagues and on to a civic reception or welcoming official visitors to our historic city. I always feel comfortable and somehow special in one of my Carole Waller jackets.
Carole Waller makes paintings, on unstretched cloth and in architectural glass. The work is concerned with our presence and our absence - with how our human energy, and the energy of light and colour affect and influence our surroundings. She makes freehanging paintings on silk which hang against the wall, or in space - and she also encapsulates these fragile fabrics between glass.
Carole Waller welcomes commissions for indoor and outdoor public settings. Previous public projects have included hotels, spas, National Trust properties, schools, hospitals, arts centres, professional environments and design shows. Carole is a painter who uses silk as a canvas. She works with an etching process to produce semi-translucent surfaces which create shadows.
