Had a fantastic lunch today. All the staff were very welcoming and hardworking. The chef carving meat was so hospitable and even carried one of our elderly members lunch to the table with some gravy. He even popped by later to ask if meal was okay. I would thoroughly recommend this place, the meat was beautiful and veg all beautifully prepared and presented . But staff's kindness made occasion all that bit nicer!!!

Went for my birthday, and staff were great.
Only reason why I'm giving it 4 stars is nothing to do with the property unfortunately, but the patrons stood hovering over our table at 7pm, whilst we were trying to have a family meal.

Not a good experience. We booked a table for 7:45 p.m. on arrival we were offered the choice of two or three courses. We chose two courses.ย  We ordered drinks andย  starters. We had finished our starters, to then be told the carvery closes at 8.15pm. So we had to eat starters and then get our main all within about 20 minutes!!
We feel we should of be warned about the 8.15pm closing on arrival and then we wouldn't of had starters. The gammon was very salty, not fresh on that day. The roast potatoes were bad, definitely not fresh either as they had no crunch to them at all.
Only positive was that

Cracking location. Friendly staff showing us our seats and advising about going up for the carvery. Covid safe, with gloves for plate and spoon handling. Selection of potatoes and vegetables was pretty good and the gravy was tasty and made the meal. I'm not local but I would be back if I can get there ๐Ÿ™‚ lovely building.
