With over 35 years experience in French polishing, I first completed my apprenticeship with Andrew Thomson & Company Furniture Makers of Glasgow as a young man. I obtained my City & Guilds, and also the White National Certificate in French Polishing.
Further to completion of my apprenticeship, I was promoted to Foreman of French polishing within the Company, going on to be awarded the Gavin Benbo Scholarship for Restoration, a prize awarded to only one French polisher in the UK each year.I started Furniture Care/ Period Homes, my own family business in 1989, employing my son as the first apprentice.

Using the hand skilled art of french polishing we prepare and treat wood to enhance the beauty of the natural wood. Traditional polishing methods are combined with the latest technology to provide heat and water resistant finishes for tables and wood surfaces.
