Climbing Bears is a thriving village Pre-School, which received an 'Good' rating from Ofsted during their 2020 inspection. We have been meeting the changing needs of children in Wisborough Green and the surrounding areas since 1970. We are based in our own purpose built premises within the grounds of Wisborough Green Primary School, with whom we have a close relationship.
Working together gives the children the very best start to their school life. Climbing Bears is committed to early years learning through play. To 'play' is defined by the dictionary as 'to have fun, to frolic, to trifle'. It is the spontaneous expression of thought and feeling. At this age, two to five years, play is never trivial: it is serious and deeply significant.

Services
We have an exceptional staff team at Climbing Bears, not only in terms of the caliber of their qualifications but their personal commitment to the success of the setting and the happiness and well-being of the children. We are proud of our low staff turnover and, with some staff members having worked for Climbing Bears in excess of 20 years, they really are an amazing team of professionals.
We have a large, open-plan and well-resourced play area, which provides great learning opportunities for our children, and we have the benefit of modern kitchen and bathroom facilities. After a redesign in 2013, the outdoor space now includes a covered outside learning area, sensory play and a new sandpit.
There are a number of items that you need to bring to our pre-school to help your child enjoy their day and ensure that nothing is lost or damaged. Each child has their own named peg in the cloakroom where bags, coats etc can be left. They also have a blue tray where bags and boots can be stored.
Please ensure that your child's clothing is labelled with their name so those articles that are removed during a session can be placed on your child's peg for home time.During the summer months, we ask parents to send their children with sun hat and sun cream. Both of these items should be labelled and left at your child's peg.

Although we are situated within the school grounds, we are independent from them. We have been asked by the school to ensure that you use the entrance to the school grounds from School Lane not Newpound Lane when driving your child to Climbing Bears. Please do not park at the front of school. Between 8.30am and 9.15am for morning drop off and 3.00pm to 3.45pm, there is an unofficial 'one way' system along School Road.
All children aged 3-4-years will receive 15 hours per week Government funding. This starts the term after their 3rd Birthday. Those children attending more than 15 hours each week will be invoiced for any additional hours. Some children aged 2-3 years could also be eligible for Government funding. For more information please contact the manager or speak with your health visitor who will see if you meet the criteria.

Our daughter recently started bears and absolutely loves it. From the staff, range of fun and engaging activities, outside play, planned outsourced sessions such as sports and to be able to explore things naturally. Also in the few short months she has come on in her knowledge, understanding and vocabulary. Definitely recommend this pre school.😊
