Kirkhill Primary School is situated 7.8 miles from Inverness on the A862 road towards Beauly. The schools catchment area covers Kirkhill, Inchmore, Lentran, Drumchardine, Cabrich, Knockbain, Bunchrew, Clunes and Newtonhill. Our school is a busy, happy environment where we actively encourage home/school/community links.
It was opened in 1996 and we are fortunate to have excellent facilities, equipment and accommodation. Our building consists of seven well equipped classrooms, a purpose built nursery for 3 and 4 year olds, a large hall which is equipped for PE lessons and school productions and a general purpose room which is suitable for community meetings.

To ensure you are kept up to date with the latest news, information and issues regarding parents' involvement with Kirkhill Primary we would ask you to subscribe to our newsletter email list. You will receive the weekly newsletter, updates and news as well as minutes from the Parent Council meetings.
The Parent Council is a group of parents selected by members of the parent forum (the collective name for every parent, carer or guardian at a school) to represent all the parents of children at the school. Parent Councils have an important role to play in ensuring that children's education is enriched by parents' valuable life experience, individual personal skills and unique knowledge of their own child.
The establishment of a positive learning environment is essential if effective learning and teaching is to take place within a school. Effective learning and teaching is also dependent on the development of positive relationships in school and in classrooms through the daily inter-action between staff and pupils and between pupils themselves.
The Council has an on-going programme to check properties for levels of naturally occurring radon gas. The programme is risk based, with previous testing focused on housing and schools considered to be in higher risk areas. The next phase of testing is based on schools where there is a lower probability of radon gas being present, and will include your school.
