Watched your tree surgeons at work today in Horstmann Close shaping and trimming the trees in the square. The guys did a great job - the trees look perfect the one who shaped them is a true artisan - the way he is able to determine the finished shape whilst cutting is a real skill. I will be recommending them.
I have just met with the Residents Association they have asked me to thank your team on their behalf. I would also like to add my own praise. The men worked through some horrible weather, and ever mindful of the safety of residents closing off areas where they were working. They were polite with residents and to myself, did an excellent job and cleared up all areas where they had been working.
In recent years there was large amounts of publicity of the spread of Sudden Oak Death from the USA to the UK but the more worrying threat of Acute Oak Decline (AOD) has not yet received the same level of publicity in the mainstream media. AOD affects mature oaks (greater than 50 years old) of both native species, pedunculate or English oak and sessile oak.
In 2007 Midland Forestry were awarded the contract to remove several mature Wellingtonia trees at Ashton court in Bristol. This was a sensitive site due to the removal of very visual trees. The removal was part of the acceptance of a substantial Lottery grant, which has benefited the restoration of Ashton court and provided replanting of more native trees to represent the original Repton landscape.
