Launched in 2017 by Salvatore Palazzo, Scala brings a unique and distinctive vibe to Orpington, with its striking interior, stunning design features and beautiful menus that take you on a journey through the sun soaked Mediterranean. The word Scala, literally translated as 'steps', has its origins in the old seaside settlements found across southern Europe, nestled into the steep hillside and meandering down to where the land meets the sea.

5 stars for the delicious Linguine allo scoglio. I’ve ordered this dish every time I’ve been in an Italian restaurant, and today 15th January, I’ve had one of the best at The Scala. The quality of the clams, mussels and scampi is excellent; the pasta is perfectly al dente and everything in this linguine dish has a delicious taste, including the tomatoes.
The homemade tiramisù is very good, the mascarpone cream tastes amazing; I would have preferred more coffee in the savoiardi, but overall the tiramisu is delicious.

Poor service, was sat for well over an hour before we had to get and ask a waitress for our food, that had been pre ordered, it came and the sides were forgotten had ask for them, not offered any drinks either, (ordered at the bar) but once finished and asked for the bill had 4 different staff members offer us desserts.

Went here with the family on a Weds evening on my wife’s recommendation. Have to say less than impressed to say the least. Food was so-so and expensive for what you got. We ordered pre meal drinks and then wine to have with the meal but that was poured before the food arrived and we still had other drinks meaning it was wasn’t cold when the food arrived. The prawns were mushy and clearly frozen and my main was late to be served (only 8 people in the place, six of which were us) so no excuse there. It also appeared to have been microwaved or at least poorly/over-cooked. The sauce had a skin

What a phenomenal restaurant!
Had a lovely family meal and I could not fault this place.
There was so much to pick from on the menu, I literally wanted to try everything. Such quality ingredients and well thought out dishes. Everything was exceptionally tasty which is unusual for a place that does so many different types of dishes. Not to mention, such generous portions and instagram-worthy presentation! As for the dessert - just WOW! Especially that tiramisu, hands down the best tiramisu I've ever had!

Found this restaurant randomly on Google and went to give it a try. What an amazing pleasant experience! Excellent service from the moment i walked in. The food was incredible!! We had the Trio dip starter which their homemade bread - so delicious! And their main portions are very generous. I had the Risotto Fungi which was really good, and my boyfriend the lamb shank. It was all really good that I can't wait to go back. 5 Star all round from me. Thank you!
