Matrix muscles is a small friendly clinic established by myself, Pauline Whyman, in 2002. This was in response to the growing demand for effective alternative treatments for the muscular aches and pains that we all suffer from, whether they be sport, work, posture or age related. Massage has evolved from a combination of Eastern and Western traditions and is as ancient an art form as man himself.

To hold or rub an injured part is an instinctive reaction to pain or discomfort. I am qualified and insured to carry out remedial, sports and holistic therapies, and am particularly renowned for my specialist deep massage treatments. I can assess postural alignment, and offer exercises and stretches as part of the treatment.
Services
My most popular treatment is remedial or deep tissue massage to help address these problems and indeed, offer a 'remedy'. Specialist techniques, which originate from sports therapies, will soften and work through superficial muscles to the deep underlying tissues, helping to break down scar tissue, re-align fibres, clear toxins and improve elasticity.
The prime purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body's soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively.

Above all, it can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether one is an athlete, ardent keep-fitter or a once a week jogger.
The Bowen Technique is a holistic hands-on therapy, which, through a series of non-invasive gentle moves over muscle and connective tissue, allows the body to reset and heal itself. The practitioner may leave the room, or stand aside for a few minutes between each set of moves, which allows the client the space to absorb the work and is thus an integral part of the treatment.
A woman's body undergoes dramatic changes during the 40 weeks of pregnancy. These physical changes are the result of hormones released during pregnancy, as well as the growth of the foetus and the resulting metabolic changes. As many expectant mothers soon realise, carrying a baby shifts a womans centre of gravity placing stress on the back, neck and shoulders.
Please Note: I am unable to answer telephone enquiries whilst carrying out treatments. Please leave a message so I can return your call either in between treatments, or at the end of the day. Matrix Muscles is situated on the Upper Floor of 636 Blackpool Road, Ashton, Preston, above Matrix Hair Salon.
