A very warm welcome to Portstewart Golf Club, founded in 1894 and home to three fine true links golf courses. Few clubs in the British Isles or Ireland can claim to have three courses under their name. The outstanding Championship Strand Course was the host for the 2017 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. Jon Rahm, the 2017 Winner was certainly impressed, the golf course is amazing.
It's probably one of the most beautiful golf courses I have ever seen, if not the most. We pride ourselves on being a Club for all; for members and visitors and for beginners to the world's finest golfers. From the 1st tee to the 19th hole, all our Staff will endeavour to make your day one that you will remember for a very long time.

Services
The original 9 holes were laid out on 26 acres of land belonging to the Cromore Estate, on the seaward side of the County Road to Portrush at Portmore, east of the town. Unfortunately no map of the layout survives but the length was given in the Irish Golfers' Annual of 1897 as 1,495 yards.
In June of 1904 an extension to this ground provided a more challenging nine holes and led to the employment of our first professional green keeper, David Simpson. In 1916 the Club obtained an area of ground on the landward side of the County Road, sufficient to allow for its enlargement from 9 to 12 holes and these were opened for play in 1918.

What can be said of the mighty Strand Course? Dubbed as 'the sleeping giant', do you dare to tackle it! It easily stands alongside the two Ulster Royals, Portrush and County Down. The brainchild of Willie Park Jr and Des Giffin, ably assisted by undulating dunes, the run off bunkers, rolling fairways and tricky manicured greens.

Played the Riverside course excellent condition and not a hard walk. The greens were a bit slower than I expected but in very good condition. We eat in the main restaurant and food was good. Friendly and helpful staff through out the golf club. To get a buggy you will have to produce a medical certificate.

Visited the Riverside course with 2 societies on Wed 21st March and Tues 27th March. On the first occasion discovered that 90% of the bunkers were GUR and greens were generally of a poor standard. On the second visit discovered a sign at the 1st tee that stated 3 holes were closed, and no progress with standard of greens. On both occasions paid… full green fees at pro shop, and staff failed to make either group aware of the deficiencies on the Riverside course. Both of the Society organisers raised their concerns and disappointment with the office management, and both received a very underwhelming

We played the Riverside course over the summer in '16. They were getting the Strand Championship course ready for this past summer's Irish Open. Everyone was so helpful and kind. We hired our clubs, and we golfed brand-new Titleist golf clubs. The Riverside course is not as long as a typical Links course, but that was completely fine with us. We had so much fun. The course was challenging, but not frustrating. The views were amazing. After the round, we went up to the restaurant area for drinks. It was a great time all around.

One of the reasons I went to the Irish Open is that I could spend some time watching some epic golf but also not bore the hell out of my wife. Why? The course is so beautiful, so scenic, she never got bored.
The other great thing is you can play the Championship-level course. They offered the opportunity to play the course 4 days after the tourney, and with championship tees for £190. Awesome.
I wished we had stayed longer, as you can get a whole week in the summer for £150. Fall and spring is £90 and winter is £60. Since it only gets into the mid 40s in the winter, I'll be back

Portstewart Golf Club consists of three 18-hole courses situated in the town of Portstewart, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Golf was first played there as far back as 1889.
The three courses are: the Strand Course (par 72), a championship course, the Riverside Course (par 68) and the Old Course (par 64), which is where the club was founded in 1894.[1]
The late 1980s saw major development of the Strand course with the layout updated and seven new holes added. In 1992 the new Strand course, designed by Des Giffin, opened for play.[2]
The club opened a new clubhouse facility in May 2009

Very nice golf course with views over the beach and rover. Undulating fairways with gorse and heather on each side. Deep bunkers guard the greens. The wind can be strong at times increasing the challenge.
The clubhouse serves a very good traditional fish and chips with mashed peas at a very reasonable price!
