We look forward to welcoming you to our idyllic, traditional working farm. Cwmiar Farm is on the slopes of Llanllwni mountain in the heart of rural Wales. Our 100 acres of farmland and six converted farm cottages are perfect for both a family or couples holiday. We are open all year round. On the farm we have six cottages situated around our farmyard.
Of these, five cottages are converted farm buildings with traditional stone walls and wood burning stoves or open fires. The sixth cottage is a little more modern. Our cottages can accommodate families or friends of varying numbers. Discounts are available in the quieter months if our two smaller cottages are already booked and you will not use all the bedrooms of a larger cottage.

Services
Our traditional old stone barns and watermill are lovingly converted into cosy, self-catering holiday cottages for families and couples. With beams, inglenooks and stone walls, each cottage is unique. Four of the cottages are accessible for wheelchair users. In addition we have made the farm as accessible as possible for wheelchair users so that everyone can join in with activities at Cwmiar.
The Old Water Mill was a threshing mill built hundreds of years ago. The date 1773 is etched on the extension so we assume that the main building was built prior to that. The mill is now a relaxing, comfortable and cosy family holiday cottage with all modern conveniences. However, by keeping the stonework, the exposed beams and the water wheel it retains its original character and olde worlde charm.
Miller's cottage was the milking parlour when Cwmiar was a commercial dairy. When we took off the tin roof we discovered an ancient heather-thatched roof underneath. Unfortunately this disintegrated into dust. We would have liked to keep the old A frames, but decided it was impractical as people would have to climb over them to get into bed!
The Mill House is one of the the oldest buildings at Cwmiar, built at the same time or before the mill. It is a crogloft - one of the first buildings to have sleeping accommodation in the loft and may date back to the Middle Ages. This cottage was almost a ruin when we arrived but is now a comfortable, cosy cottage.
Millpond Cottage is a very old stone barn. Formerly it was a stable for the shire horses that worked the fields with their equipment and hay stored on the upper floor. It is now a relaxing and comfortable farm holiday cottage with an olde worlde atmosphere created by the exposed beams and painted stonework.

Had an amazing experience at Cwmiar Farm. Kay was so accommodating and was very proactive in creating an experience for us and our daughter. We fed and interacted with animals and really enjoyed the well equipped games barn, the play areas and the mountain which you can walk onto from the farm.
Added to this, the shops are a few minutes by car and you can walk to the Belle Vue for a bit of fine dining.
In all, our week away was a great experience and incredible value. I would highly recommend Cwmiar Farm for anyone looking for an awesome family experience.

Kay was, as ever, a welcoming host. The Old Water Mill was a perfect place for our 3 families with all ensuite bedrooms. The farm is a great place to stay. The kids and adults enjoyed feeding the animals and we saw the calves which hadn't been born when we visited last year. The play barn is great. We have already booked again for next year! Would definitely recommend this for anyone and everyone as long as it's not then booked up for when we want to go! 😀

A great set of cottages and our host Kay is delightful. It is a working farm so you can get involved or not, as pleases you. It has a great sense of stepping back in time about 50 years when folk had time for each other and there is space to breathe as nature leads the pace of life. We spent a lovely week here.

We had a lovely visit here at the end of the Easter holidays. Kay was fantastic on the first day arranging an Easter egg hunt for the children who had a great time hunting for the eggs. The children ( aged 3, 6 and 7) were entertained throughout the holiday by either feeding the animals, or playing in one of the two parks. They quickly made friends with the other children and were quite happy running around the farm playing with their friends. I was a little worried about the pond being so close to the play area but it was so well fenced in that it wasn't a worry at all. The children loved riding

Fantastic place! We stayed over Easter 2014 and it was a wonderful week. Not your typical commercial holiday destination (no pressure of any kind!) Very much a family farm, well equipped, with beautiful traditional stone cottages which form a courtyard like area. Absolutely peaceful and quiet as the play areas for children are at a good distance from the cottages. Going round feeding the animals is not compulsory but it is a must as it is a real delight to stroll calmly around the farm. To see the children faces going round doing the feeding, collecting eggs, having fun and learning! on the fresh
